Guitar Noise Has a Blog!

Paul Hackett, August 20, 2007

Let me be the first to welcome you to the official Guitar Noise blog. Now you can stay up to date with all the latest site info posted by the Guitar Noise crew. We want to open the lines of communication and interaction a little further, and from now on you’ll learn about changes to the site as we make them. Perhaps the biggest benefit of all, is that you’ll be able to give us your feedback right away. We encourage you to use the comments section and join in the discussion.

My first concern is to keep this blog from being a boring place with site announcements that could just as easily go on the news page. To keep my back covered, I’ve already started inviting guest bloggers to share this space with us. Each of them has their own area of knowledge and expertise and they’ll be chiming in with guitar tips, mini-articles and what-not. Expect to see a variety of posts from some of the Guitar Noise regulars. Sometimes they’ll be informal and brief; others will be more structured. I hope you’ll find everything here useful. I’m not exactly sure what this blog will grow up to to look like, but I can say that it’s all going to be a lot of fun.

In terms of geek-ness you can syndicate this blog feed on a reader. (You are a geek if you know what I just said. I’m a little in doubt myself. :-))

If there is anything you want to see added here please let us know. Leave a comment. One thing to be aware of, is that we’ll be monitoring the comments to keep them free from spam and we’ll remove anything that’s unsuitable for younger, impressionable readers.

This is a much better way to share news and happenings with you. Whenever we have some maintenance to do, or need to ask for your feedback, this will be the place. Don’t forget to add this to your bookmarks and check back often.

Everyone is blogging these days, from David Hodge to David Gilmour and Prince. Hopefully you’ll have as much fun here as we’re going to have.

I’ve only just found this site but one of the features I was looking for but couldn’t find was a feed for all of your content (The lessons and so on). If you do have these can you make them easier to fund and if you don’t can you make them? Please!

Just to add a brief note to Paul’s, I know I’m pretty excited about this new addition to Guitar Noise. We usually have a lot of ideas that we don’t post up as full fledged articles and this gives us a whole new way of bringing ideas, advice and stories to our readers.

Looking forward to seeing you all here on the GN Blog page!

    Peace

    David

We don’t have a feed for our lessons and other content (yet!). It’s definitely something I want to do. Right now it’s in the queue with all the other things I need to do.

Hi Guys, I’ve just found this blog so I hope you don’t mind me introducing myself.

I’ve just bought my first guitar and started to learn to play. Normal 6 steel string acoustic, and arrived with a CD which showed me the basics, ie, which way up to hold it. I’ve got to learn the whole lot but it’s nice to combine learning with playing a tune you recognise.

Quickly to say that your finger picking excerise for House of the Rising Sun is great - the one I’ve been trying uses F and yes, it is difficult, but then so are most of the transitions - I definitely like the Fmaj7 better, but I’ll also persevere with F.

I’ve only been playing for a couple of weeks and my fingers hurt like hell but I’m practicing everyday, but heck, it’s not easy is it? Maybe I’m just a slow learner - I don’t know what to expect after two or three weeks? Sorry for the long blog - I’ll keep it shorter next time..

    Thanks
    Dylan

    Hi Dylan

Don’t worry about keeping things shorter! It’s great to hear form you and to read how things are coming along.

If you’re not already a member of the Guitar Noise Forum pages, you should go take a look. It’s a great community where guitarists of all skill levels from all over the world get together to help each other through the stumbling blocks that happen to us all. You’ll get answers to questions you might have, but more importantly, you’ll get many reactions and experiences concerning how others dealt with things like F chords and finger picking and barre chords and just about anything you can imagine.

Hope to be seeing you on the boards!

    Peace
