Nicolas Hernandez’s debut CD is a skillful blend of flamenco and other world genres. His guitar playing is exquisite and you will find yourself captivated by the songs on this album.
Evil Beaver – Models of Virtue
An EP from the new lineup of Evil Beaver, with Gene Trautman (Queens of the Stone Age) replacing Laura Ann Beaver as Evie Evil’s partner in music. Raw pounding music produced by veteran Mike Terry (Foo Fighters).
The Green and Yellow TV – Sinister Barrier
Political statements, ecological stands, social commentary and a very commercial pop sound from a three-piece band. No, it’s not Green Day! You might find this terrific trio a bit more reminiscent of England’s Muse. An exceptional album!
Tempest – The Double Cross
An interesting concept album about Captain Kidd, featuring some great musicianship and arrangements in a style you might think of as Celtic Progressive Rock.
Mambo Sons – Racket of Three
I would highly recommend this CD – it’s good old rock and roll, nicely flavored with many stylish rhythms and influences of guitarist Tom Guerra.
Dadi Finger Picks
A review of Dadi’s fingerpicks, made in the style of Pro-Pik’s open face fingerpick rather than Dunlop’s traditional style.
Canvas Solaris – Penumbra Diffuse
Some serious fusion and progressive influences from some guys rooted in heavy metal. Think of a blend of King Crimson and Metallica with hints of Pink Floyd and I think you’ll have a good idea of this instrumental music.
A Triggering Myth – A Remedy of Abstraction
The sixth release by Triggering Myth (Rick Eddy on keyboards and guitar and Tim Drumheller on keyboards) finds them joining forces with the fantastic violin work of Akihisa Tsuboy of Japan’s progressive fusion group, KBB.
Steinar Gregertsen – Southern Moon Northern Lights
Breathtaking and exhilarating lap steel guitar music from Norway! Whether laying down some gritty original rock or delicately re-crafting an old gem like the Beach Boys’ God Only Knows, Steinar displays incredible musical sensibility and taste.
Caterine: Fear – Pain – Love
Instrumental guitar music from our Guitar Noise reviewer! An exciting and intricate blend of musical styles and genres that will capture your attention from the first note.
Gustavo Assis-Brasil – Hybrid Picking For Guitar
An exercise book designed for the Hybrid Picking Guitarist – containing a well thought-out design of exercises, plus practical demonstrations of lead lines and fills as well as some full original songs. It will certainly get you working!
Ultimate GS 100 Guitar Stand
$25 may be a lot for a guitar stand, yet I generally believe you get what you pay for. This stand has many features that set it apart from the crowd – it’s compact (it can fit in a gig bag) and light and a great operational guitar stand.
Rare Blend – Stops Along
A high-energy jazz fusion band with great improv skills, Rare Blend offers a lot of memorable moments in their latest CD.
Overloaded – Hail the Kingdom
A great disc – some gritty, powered up 80′s style rock & roll. I’d like to see a lot more of the younger generation kick it into gear and play some party music like this young band.
Sara Wendt – Here’s Us
Romantic and emotional, this six-song CD is full of cleverly written songs sung with powerful feeling. You’ll be left wishing it had twice as many songs!
Jason Sadites – Orbit
Jason Sadites’ debut CD is an exceptional collection of well crafted guitar instrumentals. Tasteful playing and superb engineering make this CD a must-listen.
Michael Bianco – Guitar Innovations
Michael Bianco is one of the masters of the two handed tapping technique. He deserves his place right along side Stanley Jordon and Jennifer Batten. Guitar Innovations contain compositions that are beautiful, mostly new age with a classical feel and a touch of Latin influences, Highly recommended.
Kate Bush – Aerial
Kate Bush returns with her first studio disc in quite some time – a two-CD set that will both delight and challenge her listeners.
Alexandre de Guise – Can’t Be In Vain
I would best describe the musical genre of this disc as Adult Contemporary and light Progressive Rock with a touch of Celtic Folk, brought to you by a top level guitar virtuoso.
Age Of Nemesis – Psychogeist
Great progressive metal from Hungary, of all places! Highly recommended.
