Since we’ve posted a number of chord melody lessons of late, it seemed like a good idea to make “Chord Melody” a “topic of the month.” As with most of our topics, Guitar Noise has lessons at almost all levels, from beginners just getting started to intermediate and advanced students who want to try out creating their own chord melodies. So take a closer look at all the lessons on this page. It will hopefully get you psyched to try out this style of playing.
Chord Melody Arrangements
A chord melody is basically a solo guitar arrangement of a song. You want the melody to ring out so people can easily recognize what you are playing.

Also it will give us a chance to start exploring putting the melody further up the neck while still coming up with an easily playable chord accompaniment.
Playing Chord Melodies With A Pick
Here’s an original song from Peter Simms – Key West – a perfect song for lounging on a lazy summer afternoon. Peter wrote this specifically for those of you who want to play chord melodies with a pick, so enjoy!
Love Came Down At Christmas – A Christmas Hymn
Here is a beautiful Christmas hymn, wonderfully arranged in DADGAD tuning for us by Doug Sparling. What a great way to kick off the holiday season!
The Sussex Carol
