Re: Using the PC as an FX module?

Couldn't you use something like amplitube or GR and just bypass the software head and cabinet, and just use the software stomp boxes? You could run the guitar to the PC, then from the PC to the amp. In effect, your PC would become a bunch of pedals.

Re: Had one of THOSE nights.. :(

I may be well off mark here, but I find that when I play well, it is because I play with confidence, and when I feel below par I am very tentative causing my fingers to have a lighter sloppier touch. In the past, I have come to realize that when I am having an off day, I just make sure I really "gi...

Re: Tremelo picking

I angle the pick so instead of the pick being parallel to the string, it's sort of angled so that the curved part hits the string. In other words, I turn my wrist down a bit so the pick "rolls" over the string, instead of cutting through it. Hmmm...reading that back it still may be a bit confusing. :?

Re: Anyway to have real time internet jams?

So I gave this a shot - its pretty nifty actually. Its not truly real time, but it does feel like it once you get going. Perhaps we could setup a server and get a GN live jam going :)

That does look interesting. If anyone is up for it this weekend, I wouldn't mind seeing how that actually works. Something to mess around with anyway :)

Re: Anyway to have real time internet jams?

A bit of a delay, but I might not mind giving this a try - only problem is that I am in a hotel in philly and the internet is a bit slow, and I would have to figure out how to use amplitube with it, as I don't have a real amp with me. Let me know if you want to try and give it a go!

I think the oddest pick I have used was a quarter when i couldn't find anything else - it actually worked quite well...a nice heavy sound. Usually I use heavy dunolp gels though...

Re: Home recording line level help

For a more expensive unit for recording, you were referring more to something like this: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Lexicon-Alpha-USB-Desktop-Recording-Studio-103840849-i1126259.gc ? I really can't see myself singing, but i do understand what your saying. Also, wouldn't the behringer work if you pl...

Re: Home recording line level help

Thanks for the reply Moonrider. Would something like one of these work: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-Guitar-Link-UCG102-USB-Interface-241228-i1175566.gc ? There are lots of variations in prices - not sure what the differences are. Then I also saw things such as the Lexicon Alpha type units ...

Home recording line level help

Hey everyone - have a question for someone who knows about recording to a pc. I use reaper with vst plug ins (such as amplitube), and my problem is that when I go directly from my guitar to the line in on my pc, i cant seem to get a high enough input level so that the sound doesn't cut out on sustai...

Re: Key to the Highway jam

Sorry about the update - if anyone wants my slot, consider it open. I kind of ran out of time recently, but i am going to keep plugging away just for fun. If i get it done before someone takes my slot, cool. If not, oh well :D A bit bummed too...i had this nifty little tapped harmonic section in the...

Re: Rhythm Guitars for Metal

Well, I have a Schecter C-1+...i know its not the same, but I would put in a positive word for them in general. I think it is a fantastic guitar. I do like the split coils - humbucking on the rear with some distortion is great, then switch to clean, split the coil, and put it on the neck pickup, and...
