I read somewhere that Flamenco guitarists do not really learn "formally" that they will travel to spain and they learn by ear, other players (watching what they do or trading licks), and by performing in festivals regardless of their skill level. Just something I heard and have always wondered if it...

May not be for you or most anybody. But I find myself -- when I face the proverbial "brick wall"-- packing things up and not touching the guitar for weeks, twice in my life months at a time. I find when I come back it is with a fresh heart and soul and with a beginners aproach. It is hard to do now ...

Lately I like playing without a pick on acoustic, but I am totally shredding my nails - the strings affect them like sandpaper. I had to stop playing like that the other week while my nail grew out coz it basically wore through halfway down......... Now I'm using clear nail polish, but I have to re...

Yes to all. You will only be fretting the actual notes -- "the bass walk thingy" -- the other strings will be open but frethand muted and raked on the up stroke. Same concept as in pride and joy, cold shot, I'm crying are 3 more examples. I find it easier to keep a "metal" like feel to the strumming...

Been Reading over the posts and beleive all points and opinions are valid. I have "taught" myself things, when I have the time and money (gotta support 3 kids) I try to take lessons. Usually to learn a different style. Reading music is a tough one for me to pontificate on becuase prior to playing Gu...

Try your bend "upwards", use 3 fingers and the tuning issue could be the light guage strings (and they are probrably old) this would be the tuning issue. Blues for acoustic....... They played blues prior to electrics (most likely with out the bends). Suggestion on bends till you get an electric---sl...
