Re: Got tens!

My theory is that the spinning of the dryer generates a worm hole in space that sucks your socks out of it and into someone else's dryer that is running at the same time, thus creating another worm hole that connects to yours.

Re: Got tens!

I use a mix of 9s and 10s on my acoustic. I used 10's on the bottom strings and 9's on the top. This helps the bottom ones to sound more full and keeps them from buzzing but is still not quite as hard on my skinny fingers as all 10's are. I found this out by accident when some strings broke and I bo...

Didn't I read on here one time that someone's angry wife or girlfriend torched the shed where the band kept all their gear?

Great post, Chris.

Re: sausage fingers

Oo I am going to try the pencil trick because I have a bad habit of gripping the neck too tightly and not having that space between.

Re: Unprofessionalism at Sam Ash astounded me.

It was a few years ago, so I have no idea who did it. Definitely not better afterwards, though. I plan to have it fixed once I have some spare cash.

Re: Unprofessionalism at Sam Ash astounded me.

I live near Milford but I worked in Blue Ash for nearly 13 years. :) Yeah, I paid for the "set up". The thing played better before I took it in to have it set up. :| Ah well, live and learn. Hopefully the pushy guy will be gone soon if he keeps doing that to people. Smart move to take one and make t...

Re: Unprofessionalism at Sam Ash astounded me.

Joe, I live in Cinci as well and I hate Sam Ash. I bought a new guitar from them and I swear it is actually a used one. After I got it home I saw that it had wear marks on the back and on the fretboard. They said it wasn't used, that it must have just been played a lot in the store. Um...ok. Wouldn'...

Re: handedness (left or right)

I'm left handed. I write left handed but do most other things (use a mouse, scissors, etc) right handed, so I figured once again I would make life easier and just play guitar right handed. Strumming doesn't work so well for me and forget about using a pick, I can't do it. I have always been curious ...

I don't know what any of that means but it sounds impressive.
I like hearing about everyone's Aha! moments. It makes me want to persevere in order to have more of my own. My dad was a jazz drummer and if jazz is half as complicated to play as it is to listen to, then you are doing great!

Re: Bad Reputation

Going from my own newbie experience I would guess that one of the reasons many guitarists can't read standard notation is that it is just so much easier now to do tabs. If you don't have the money for lessons, or the time, smarts and patience to teach yourself, then it is tabs or just don't play at ...
