Re: Technicolor Girl

Thanks again Vic for the reply and suggestions.

I'll definitely try to get a 'demo' recorded this weekend. I can't really sing well at all (it's another thing I need to practice)...but atleast you'll be able to get an idea on the rhythm, music and all that.

Re: The dreaded barred chords...

It gets a lot easier. Trust me, it just takes time. Maybe try moving the barre chord around a bit...that helped me improve a lot. For example try just shifting positions 1st fret to 5th fret (F to A)...it may help a lot with getting your fingers stronger and "teaching them" how to fret the chords, a...

Re: Technicolor Girl

Hey Kevin, nice to see you back and posting again. Even better than that, actually writing songs! Plusses - quite a few. Well written, nice use of language, well laid out. Could be a long song - but 'cos I know you're a big Hendrix fan, I'm kinda reading it - and putting music to it, in my head - i...

Technicolor Girl

Okay, first off...this all sounds a lot better with the music that I have for it, and I will try my best to do a rough recording of it. But I am curious to see what improvements people will have to suggest for the lyrics alone. Parts that I have in italics I am mainly focused on changing. Thank you ...

Re: Pink Floyd: Were Post Waters' Albums Good PF Music

As far as which guitar player is better... I don't think you can say that Gilmour "certainly isn't as good " as Henrix. Personally I disagree, but I don't think you can compare any of the guitar gods. They all have amazing skills in different areas and have made their own innovations. People can de...

Re: Pink Floyd: Were Post Waters' Albums Good PF Music

I don't think even Gilmour rates himself very high as a lyrics guy. I don't think he's given enough credit musically, and is a good vocalist (at least in the PF sense). I wonder if it ever crossed their minds to say to each-other, "OK, we'll do an album or two your way, and then we'll do an album o...

Re: The Who vs Led Zep....

This is really tough for me to answer, because I flat out love live music. To me, Led Zeppelin was just an average live band. I think Page sounded so weak live, back in the day. Blame it on drugs, blah blah, but that is no excuse, in my opinion. Guys like Jimi Hendrix and Pete Townshend were on drug...

Re: Pink Floyd: Were Post Waters' Albums Good PF Music

Just MHO but I dont rate Gilmour very highly as songwriter. I love his solo's but as far as songcraft go I have to go with Syd first, closely followed by Waters. Agreed on Gilmour. A beautiful soloist, and a big influence on me. But lyrically, and even musically (besides for his abilities of a lead...

Wah BEFORE fuzz. Wah after fuzz sounds pretty bad in my opinion.

Re: Wow...amp problem? Electrical problem? Guitar problem?

Update... I checked all the wall outlets in the house and only ONE has a "ground" problem. That is the one in the living room, and I have used my amp only a few times there. The one in my room where I always use the amp is fine. One problem I have encountered is that my Squier '51 sounds fine throug...

Re: Wow...amp problem? Electrical problem? Guitar problem?

UPDATE!!: Just tested the circuits at every place in my house. Everything is working okay EXCEPT the wall outlet in the living room. In the past I have plugged the amp into that wall...but it's always been plugged into the wall in my room. Is it possible a DEFECTIVE GROUND could screw up something i...

Re: Wow...amp problem? Electrical problem? Guitar problem?

There's nothing that the circuitry in the wall could be doing to make your amp sound bassy. Did you use your guitar in the store with the amp when it sounded good? Does the tone control on your guitar have any effect on the tone of the sound coming out of the amp? What if the wall was putting out t...
