Re: Bend Ups and Downs - Clarification Please

Thanks - I am practising a solo, so no other strings when doing the bend.

These little tips help a lot - thanks all.

Cheers

Bend Ups and Downs - Clarification Please

Hi, I am not sure if I have explained this particularly well, but I am hoping someone will be able to help me. I use tab and occasionally I see BU above the tab showing 9(11). I think this means finger on fret 9, pick the string and bend up two notes to the same sound as fret 11. Can anyone confirm ...

Re: anyone know how to set the tone knobs on a fender strat?

All,

Thank you for the info. Now I know which does what, I can spend the rest of the night working out how to use them. I guess that will take a while.

Cheers

Re: anyone know how to set the tone knobs on a fender strat?

Hi All, I am new to Electric, and have a Tokai Love Rock Les Paul (have a picture, but cannot remember how to attach it). Whilst I understand the message here about setting volume to the max you wish to use on the amp, and then controlling the volume with the knob on guitar, I want to know if the sa...

Re: Comfortably Numb

David, Ditto to what Staffan posted. I have only just re-discovered this song, and although I had the chords, the lesson is perfect for me to get some melody in there. As you know, I have been posting my experiences at my first couple of Jamming nights. I have set myself a target of achieving a solo...

Update: First Jam Night - Relative Beginner Reports!

Hope this is in the right sub-forum, I am happy for it to be moved if the Mods know where it sits best. Just a shorter update on my second jamming night, I attended a week or so ago. I started out with a lot more confidence having got over all the unknowns about the format of the night, and the firs...

Re: How do I know Which Key?

Wes - thank you. that is what I was after, why do we want to play it in another key? I guessed that I might like to choose a key without a difficult chord in it, for simplicity. Playing with others brings the other reason in to play, not done that before last night - see my jam post.

First Jam Night - Relative Beginner Reports!

OK, thought I would provide a feedback on my first experience of a Jam night. I am still a relative beginner, having spent not many hours a week for the last few years with my beginner acoustic and 30watt Laney. I can play a few songs from the GN Lessons, ‘Fields of Gold, ‘Losing My Religion' qu...

Re: How do I know Which Key?

Thank you again for the explanation. Amazing what you can learn from a 'simple' arrangement. Now for a few of the solos!

Re: How do I know Which Key?

Many thanks Hbriem and Fretsource, That is very useful. The table is a very useful addition to my 'notebook', and the explanation clarifies a few things I had wondered. So if I were to take Johnny B Goode - I have seen this written 2 ways (there are probably loads more), the verse, being G.............

How do I know Which Key?

I have been teaching myself acoustic with the help of guitar noise (thank you all) for a while, and was hoping somebody could explain the following: 1 - When someone says "play it in the key of C" what do they mean? 2 - When I am strumming a song on acoustic, and I am using open chords playing G, D ...

Will this help for starters? Thank you all for your replies. I understand fully now. It opened up an interesting debate which just goes to show the variation of opinions out there.
There will be plenty more questions from me - once again thank you.
