Re: Recording bass guitar

It's common practice to both mic an amp as well as use a DI. As far as mic placement, use your ears. You'll get more treble toward the center of the cone. An sm 57 slightly off axis is always a good bet.

Re: Tube Tone with SS circuitry

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNT5ecuy5jo Quilter Labs have developed an amp with solid state circuitry but gives a surprisingly tube like tone. The basis for the idea is that they do not allow the output circuit to be over driven. Unlike tubes where the output tubes give great tone when they are ...

Re: Recording with Guitar Rig

That's right. With most plug in effects, this is the case. Just like inserts or sends on a standard console, the effects only apply to the mix not to the media.

Re: Recording with Guitar Rig

I know this is an old thread but for the sake of clarification: Any Digital Audio Workstation(DAW) will allow you to record using the effect. It's a matter of setup. You want to monitor through the DAW and not direct monitoring from your input. This is sometime referred to as "end to end" monitoring...

Re: Gibson Robot guitar

Did you contact tech support? A company like Gibson should stand behind their product. Battery is here. While you're there, check out the complaints.

Re: My guitar, laptop and Audacity

It seems that Kristal Audio Engine has been discontinued but never fear. They are the ones who developed Studio One for Presonus.

Re: My guitar, laptop and Audacity

I would strongly suggest downloading Kristal Audio Engine and ASIO4all . If Kristal seems buggy, go ahead and download Studio One Free . Studio One Free is decent, It's only main limitation is that it does not support third party plugins. Kristal Audio Engine does support third party vst plugins but...

Re: Help with Studio One and BehRinger x1204USB

You need to make sure that Studio One is seeing the Beerslinger as the input device. That means either setting up the bootlicker mixers AU or ASIO driver as the recording device. I haven't had a mac in ten years so I'm not sure I can remember how to do this. There should be a setting under edit/pref...

Re: AmpliTube 3.5 Custom Shop - FREE download!

The app is nice. It's a very stripped down Amplitube but has all the potential of the full version. It's just a matter of purchasing the modules. The nice thing about it is that you only have to buy the models that you like. So, you're not stuck with a bunch of amp models that you'll never use. I ca...

Re: Choosing an effects processor

I've owned a few Digitech products and they've never satisfied me. Always a bit cheap looking and sounding. There was a time when Digitech made some great, quality delay effects. The last one I owned though, was noisy as heck. Even though they are likely made in the same factory, Boss have always se...

Re: Condenser Mic/Mac Recording Question

Hey axemen, I'm now using an iMac computer to do my music recording. Of course it comes with Garageband and I'm thinking of getting Guitar Rig Kontrol. Here's my question. I'm wanting to figure out the easiest way of getting a condenser mic hooked up (either directly or indirectly) to my Mac. I do ...
