Re: A little guitar humour...

Oh... drummer jokes... sometimes they are too easy... A young boy and his mother are walking down the street and the boy turns to his mother and says "when I grow up I want to be a drummer!"... his mother replies "Now now son, you cant do both"! How do you get a drummer off your front step? Pay for ...

Your guitar binder - cheat sheets?

I have been trying to build a list of songs with a cheat sheet for each song to remind me the basics of playing it. Rather than reinventing the wheel, I wanted to know if others have anything like this... and if possible are you willing to share some examples? Here is kind of what I have thinking of...

Re: Guitar size questions

My Washburn Rover travel guitar is fantastic... it easily has the best neck and action of all my guitars... if it wasn't for the size (lack of bass, etc) it would be my primary guitar. As a second opinion, my amazing guitar playing (~30 years) coworker thinks it is the best feeling guitar he has eve...

Re: Any opininions on Schecter guitars?

I have a Schecter S-1 (30th anniversary edition). With no exaggeration, it is the best electric guitar I have ever personally played. They make really good guitars for the money.

Re: Locking tuners?

I have locking tuners on my Schecter, and they are great. Note... they do not lock the tuners in place or anything like that. The word "locking" refers to the fact that they hold (grip) the string into the tuner. This means when changing the string, there is no tedious wrapping the string around or ...

Re: Looking for some good songs to play alone...

Pick up any of the "Fingerpicking ****" series that interests you (check the list of songs on their website) Most of the arrangements are fairly easy and sound good. They are as cheap as most magazines to buy - so well worth it. Most music stores carry them - I don't see them in regular bookstores v...

Re: What you been playing/learning lately?

I am taking a whole new direction in my learning lately and am trying to learn blues chord progressions and scales (mainly using "Blues You Can Use"). I have been playing almost 100% solo fingerstyle since learning to play guitar (2+ years). I am sick of not being able to join in at parties or to sh...

Re: a good tuner

I have an Intellitouch tuner... and it is great... really quick, and accurate. http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Intellitouch-PT10-Mini-ClipOn-Tuner?sku=502816 Would recommend it for sure. It is clip on style, so you can tune in a noisy room. Mine works well on my acoustic, classical an...

Fingerstyle player database

The infamous YouTube phenom Jawmunji (just trying to embarrass him...) has started putting together a database of fingerstyle players. In his words: a “fingerstyle database”, which would contain all the fingerstyle guitarists that we have got something out of listening to, so that we could share...

Re: finding it difficult to practice......

Take it slow... you have a lifetime to learn to play. Go through the course I mentioned. As a guideline... I have been practicing every night, about 30 minutes a night and after 2 weeks I am still only half way through. When I say to do each lesson flawlessly, I mean it. You won't advance if you are...

Re: finding it difficult to practice......

I highly recommend going through this course: http://www.guitarnick.com/fingerstyle_and_fingerpicking_-_lessons_and_songs.html Start at the beginning ... no matter how easy you think it is. Do each lesson enough times that you can do it flawlessly. I am about half way and I already notice a major im...
