Advice... please?

Currently, I'm attempting to find gigs for my band. I would be grateful if you could give me some  general advice on how to go about this.
We're all 16, which makes it a little difficult.

Your advice please! Thankyou

Re: Hard Choices on Marshall's

Yeah, my comment on the fender twin wasn't particularly useful, but I just hate the sound of Marshalls.

But on the marshall side of things, I don't recomend a Mode Four, I agree with Promedics, Theyre not quite the real thing

Re: Settings on amp/guitar (Newbie)

Just a a key point here; Don't fiddlearound with tone or volume controls on the actual guitar. They only reduce the signal, and therefore worsen the tone. Do it all at the amp.

Re: Flatwounds

When I bought my bass, it had one flatwound on the bottom E, and I can't afford to replace it. It sounds so horrible, and dull in comparison to the others, which sound so bright and lovely.

Re: Recently bought a Trace Elliot bass combo.....

Can't say I know about that model, but I very much doubt its a lemon. Trace Elliot amps are very very good. I was playing one this weekend and was astounded by the sheer power and tone they have. I hope you get many years good use of it

Laney amps

does anybody have any experience of these? I'm looking at the higher end (tube) models, and I shall try one out soon. Do they have a more marshall, or fender type sound?  What do you think of them?

Thankies

Re: Plectrum or fingers!?

I tend to alternate on pklectrum/fingers depending on the style of song, but I have recently been playing more with fingers, and I love it. You really can get a great sound from fingers. Also, its more fun, and it looks cooler!!

Re: Ringing in my ears.......

Doc's Earplugs are widely used by drummers, theyre pretty good aparently. Its true, you shouldn't practice to loud, but sometimes it is beneficial (and rather fun) to have a loud practice. This allows you to find out how you sound at the sort of volumes that you would play at live. When my band firs...

Copyright album?

Ok, here is the situation; as a band, we write all our own material. We have a demo recorded, which we intend to spread around a lot.  Hopefully within this year we shall be recording an album. Should we copyright our demo? Or should we save our money and just copyright the whole album? If we copyri...

Re: 5 stringed bass...

Interesting fact time....

Tune your fith string a bit sharp, and play a C, it has interesting effects on the part of the brain that controls vommiting. (33 hz)

Re: tuner implosion -- question

Yeah, One of the screws started coming loose on the tuner of my electric, fortunately I noticed it before it imploded, and managed to fix it. I feel I was rather fortunate, because, had I lost it, I'm sure I would have lost one of the small but vital parts...

Thankyou. Erm, I saw a book like that somewhere, the musicians bible? Or something like that. I'll try to track down a copy.
