Re: SSG Year 9 Week 34

wow, so much griping over commercially successful music... we're either pretty lame or way too cool for pop (i'll pretend to be the later)

Re: Y8W46 Dream a Little Dream of Me

I haven't listened to much Radiohead. You should give "Kid A" a listen. I think I have it somewhere if you want to borrow it (you could probably find it on Grooveshark.com also). I think some of the approaches that you've using in producing your songs are similar to what Radiohead has been doing. "...

Re: Y8W46 Dream a Little Dream of Me

I'm thinking you're talking about Inception? Just a thought, but not sure about the "self-tapping screw". Maybe Matrix? Interesting how the meaning of "dream of me" seems to change meaning at some points, sometimes "dream" being a verb in the imperative, to being a noun as in the dream about or belo...

Re: Y8 Week 46 - One by one

Yeah, good clear story, but could be applied to any number of long wars or conflicts. As far as the comments about "shooting", the verb could refer to the projectile or the target - I think your context clearly refers to the bullet (because it doesn't make much sense as shoot AT steel). The ghosts t...

Re: Wk46 Mississippi

BTW if you are using the Windows Sound Recorder, once it stops at 60 seconds, hit record again and it doubles the time....so you could keep doubling it out for a "song length" then save the file as your template and just use that each time you record a song and use "save as" to save the new song......

Re: Wk46 Mississippi

The Neil Young reference throws me a little because the song is called Mississippi and the Neil reference bring to mind Ohio or Alabama. Actually you're quite close with Ohio - there was a similar incident 10 days after May 4 (I only knew this because I went to Kent State and a friend wrote an arti...

Wk46 Mississippi

Ok, so I didn't do a very good job of using allusion on this one... I started to, but this is where it led me. Sad, since it was my idea  . Anyway, it isn't about a person so much as an event. Couldn't think of what to write for a second verse, but probably should. Maybe tell the stories of th...

ah, touche. I just thought I'd see if I could get away with critiquing the critiquer. I guess not.

Then again, my suggestions still suggest a fix to the very problem James proposed. Hope it helps you, Vic.

To bed!

Re: Y8 W45 - Midnight Blues.

James, the blues is supposed to say the same thing. For example: Muddy Waters: You say you love me darlin', please, call me on the phone sometime You say you love me darlin', please, call me on the phone sometime Stevie Ray Vaughan Well it's floodin' down in Texas, all the telephone lines are down W...

Re: Midnight WK45

Well, I made a few minor changes - mostly I'm trying to bring it back to this: the girl was REAL but is gone. There is no mental delusion, just trying to come to terms with loss, and hope that the child can carry on. I think I really need to change the name - Midnight doesn't really fit anymore, tho...

Feedback?
Much better than the original - very much fits better with:

Re: Midnight WK45

Thanks James, first of all, I didn't realize that a ghost was implied. Maybe that came from the word "phantasm", but while that is often implied by its usage, it isn't necessarily the meaning of the word: phan·tasm (fntzm) n. 1. Something apparently seen but having no physical reality; a phantom or...
