Re: The Who vs Led Zep....

Led Zep, I live and breathe Zeppelin. I like the Who too but they just don't compell me. More a fun listen and sing a long but LZ comes on and I can feel it deep down in my soul. They move me just like a hurricane.

Re: Need help with song for my girlfriend?

I think it's pretty good... In the first verse, I am not a fan of the double 'you's.... ('double you's' just gave myself an idea for a song)... anywho.. Not sure what would be a good replacement that would still capture the idea of what you want to say. I completely second the changing the first hea...

Re: Which is the most versatile instrument ?

I skimmed through so if I repeat ideas, I apologize. Piano, in my opinion, is the most versatile. A guitar can play 6 notes at a time, not enough for 13th chords. A piano, you can play as many notes as the keyboard or piano has. Plus, my guitar has almost four octaves. A standard bass guitar is an o...

Re: What's your song list

Not a huge list? Are you kidding me? It takes me around 3 weeks to learn and practice a song until it sounds good. So all in all I don't learn more than 15 songs a year... Do you learn the solos in addition to the rhythm parts though? Ditto and that's not even mentioning the ones I learned awhile b...

Re: Guess that Riff VII

'The Godfather Theme' was all I was looking for so you are up, Boogie. The name of the song and author are 'Speak Softly Love' by Nino Rota... but who knows that off the top of their head? I wish I could take credit for the arrangement but alas it is not mine.

Re: I have absolutely no rhythm or ear - what are my options?

I didn't read what everybody else had to say so sorry for any repitition. First of all don't be afraid to sloooowww things down to get it right. For rhythm, clap it out slowly. Tap your foot to a slow steady beat (or use a metronome if you don't have the steady part down yet) and clap your hands to ...

Re: Keyboard trouble?

I know the question wasn't exactly a guitar stuff question but I thought you guys could help. Well, I messed around with my keyboard and found it has a tuning. At least I think it is working.

Keyboard trouble?

I have an electronic yamaha keyboard, nothing special really. I always check the tuning on it because I have heard they can fall out of tune. Well, it is about 10 cents flat - is there any way to tweak it back to being in tune or is it done for?

You guys have to better than that!! Pat Benatar? Michael Jackson? ABBA? Donna Summer? Enya? Nat King Cole!?! They are suppose to be embarrassing? I guess this is all perspective. I have been made fun of for liking Jethro Tull and heard people seriously rank on Elton John. I may only be an Elton John...

Re: College Gear Recommendations

2. A nice practice amp with headphone capability. This lead me to something I am curious about. I was told once that tube amps don't come with headphone jacks because they need a load on the system to produce an output. Hmm.. I just did a search and there are mini-headphone tube amps that are low w...

My Music --> Folders by genre (i.e. Classic Rock, Modern Rock, 80's Pop, Slow, Misc) --> Folders by artists (Unless I have < 3 songs, which means they don't get an entire folder) ---> Folders by Albums ---> Song files Seems I am pretty straight forward, wish I could be more imaginative than analytic...

Fngerstyle you can play anything you play with a pick and more. I could be wrong here but I am pretty sure Jeff Beck stopped using a pick for years. I think he had to relearn to use a pick when he finally picked one up again, so preserve those plectrum skills.
