Re: guitarnoise Winter Solstice Jam

Hey that was pretty wild!!! Dan, my original intention was almost exactly what you did - heavy psychedelic effects, esp. some funky wah wah. Cool. Dogbite, you've got the TONE. Nice. Smokingdog, that was blistering!!! Glad you're fingers didn't need surgery!!! LOL, that nutcracker music has always c...

Re: guitarnoise Winter Solstice Jam

Dogbite, mine's on the way. Kind of rushed and a little sloppy, but it's done. And I got a little bit of the Nutcracker in there.

Re: How to look at life

Thanks FS and KP. I think I have a better grasp of the context for the "mode" lessons now - they were really about learning the patterns (and more specifically, the fingerings) on the fretboard, rather than playing "in" the modes. Kind of a top-down approach to finding the notes that fit easily over...

Re: How to look at life

When soloing over an underlying chord progression, say a common ii-V-I in C, is it appropriate to consider C the tonal center throughout the progression, and then choose your scale(s) for soloing based on that? Or do you follow the chords, perhaps going from D Dorian to G Mixo to C Ionian? That seem...

If Dan's got slot 1 and Smokingdog had the 4th in the original first team, maybe just keep it in this order? I'm totally indifferent; just let me know what you decide. 8)

Re: Christmas albums, fame and talent, crossroads

I was listening to Bob Marley today and it hit me ... no Christmas album.

You're on to something here.

There's irony in the devil requiring a Christmas album. Maybe because he knows how many of them are so terrible? A taint upon the season???

Re: Anybody else having trouble with "View Active Topics"?

Comparing "view active topics" to "view new posts," it seems that "active" gives you all of the "new" plus a longer list of recent posts. Is this correct?

Your call, dogbite, but if there's enough interest for one group, keep me in.

Re: guitarnoise Winter Solstice Jam

I'll grab slot 2 for team 2. Did we ever determine if the progression was Bb - Db - E - G or Bb - Cb - E - G? Bb (or A#, if you like!) then Db (or C#) the E then G. Don't mix sharps and flats! Like I said before (although I've sussed it out a bit better now) the following chords work well for rhyth...

Re: multi fx set up

Can you cable that particular pedal so that the overdrives and distortions go into the guitar preamp, and only the modulation and time effects (chorus, delay, for example) are in the amp's effects loop? If so, that's something to consider, but if not, then run the whole thing straight into the amp. ...

Re: guitarnoise Winter Solstice Jam

I'll take the last slot on team 2 with rparker and Joe, if that's okay.

No need to tweak the ending; I'll figure something out.

Re: Dm(4)

I can't find that chord in the song; I quickly scanned through the sheet music as well as some online chord charts. There are a few using D2 but I don't see Dm4. What key are you playing in? Can you link to the full chord chart you're using? It could mean Dm11, or since it's in ( )s it could mean to...

I think Rotosounds come with an extra high E ... or at least I think they did at one time. :?:

Haven't seen them with other makers though.

Good stuff; I really enjoyed the different interpretations, and as Dogbite said earlier they all worked well together.
