Texas Flood - slide version

Hi, all. It's been a while since I've dropped in here. I hope all is well with y'all.

I thought you sliders might enjoy this rather rough but ready slide version of Texas Flood I did recently... just a slow blues, really.

This made my day big time

Hi, everyone, I know I haven't dropped in for a while but I just had to blow my own horn over this:

Slide in Dropped D

Hi, all. It's been a while since I've dropped in here ... nice to see it's all happening. I wanted to show off my new Peerless guitar. I was lucky enough to become one their 'artists' recently. I had met the Aussie Representative at the Brisbane Guitar Show last year, hooked up with him again a few ...

Re: Three Piece Suit - Slide in dropped D tuning

Cool track and great playing (as always)! :D How heavy are those "heavy strings"? 013-056? Just curious because I'm considering 'sacrificing' one of my Teles for bottleneck slide, and have a bunch of 013-056 strings that I use for my lap steel (where I replace the first string with a 015).. I use 0...

Three Piece Suit - Slide in dropped D tuning

Hi, all, it's been a while since I've dropped in ... I recently overdubbed some slide in dropped D over a very neat backing track put together by a friend. He calls it 'Three Piece Suit' and here's my take. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Alwi0kKjE6o Dropped D, heavy brass slide, heavy strings, old S...

Re: No destination, no ETA

Thanks, smokindog. In fact I never really knew Jeff played slide until YouTube came along. I've never had any of his albums but I always loved what I heard of his playing. Since YouTube he's become my all time favorite player. I just love his quirkiness and that barking tone he gets out of his Strat...

No destination, no ETA

Here's a little ditty I recorded the other using my new bass. The percussion/piano is a midi file I put together in GuitarPro, I then overdubbed the bass, then recorded and filmed the nylon string and slide, edited the whole thing in Adobe Premiere. The tune is mine, an old unfinished song that had ...

Re: Slide instruction for standard tuning.

Thanks for remembering my DVD, Steinar. The best link is http://www.bottleneckguitar.com I've been playing in Standard for decades now. I recently had the pleasure of joining Don Felder (the man who wrote Hotel California) on stage in Calgary for SRV's "Pride and Joy". My sister filmed my solo (in s...

Re: The Rosetta Stone of Guitar

Hi, all, Kirk here, author of PlaneTalk. I'm here because I also got the email as I bought Rosetta Stone a long time ago. Just wanted to say that PlaneTalk is nothing whatsoever like RSoG -- it's more like the opposite. PT focuses on 'seeing' the moment of any given tune using a very simple landmark...

Kirk calling Nick

Hey, Nick ... I've been sending PMs for the last few months. They don't seem to be getting through as I've had no response and they don't show up in my Sent Box. Are you still there?

Begin the Beguine -- self duet

Here's yet another version of this great old tune ... I can't get enough of it. This is a movie of both parts. I played the acoustic rhythm first, then overdubbed the slide melody line, then edited them together in the little movie. Good fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN-c0gAeSdU All the best, ...

I always have a slide on my pinkie when I play live. I use dropped D tuning, just the bass string down, and I have developed a sort of hybrid style over the decades. I'd feel a little lost without it, I must admit ... You can hear a bunch of my tracks on the little Flash radio I installed at one of ...

Smooth jazzy bluesy electric slide

Any sliders may enjoy this ... I'd hope so, anyway. It's a minor blues backing track that I played a lead line over on my Strat. I'm in dropped D tuning, playing into my DigiTech RP-100 straight into Adobe Audition.
