Re: Guitar Exams (need some clarification)

Well, the big question is how have you been learning? There are Grades for Classical Guitar - my top-flight students take London College of Music Classical Guitar Grade Exams, and there are other UK examining boards offering classical guitar grade exams - the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools o...

Re: Intonation at the first fret

There's nothing wrong with the nut. Lower the bridge if you want to adjust the ride height. Intonation and exact pitch has in truth been lost to us sincethe 18th century. The distance in sound of one semitone is 114 cents but to avoid some "odd" sound intervals the equal temperament we use today has...

Re: Help a noobie with fingerpicking...?

Look at the fingering instructions in your music and follow them religiously (the p-I-m-a stuff). Once you're comfortable with those basics then you can start working on what might be more workable for you

Re: Strumming without snoring

You need more difficult songs.

Also - try partial chords, different voicings, fingerpicking non-adjacent strings, adding little lead fills between vocal lines and change the style of a song (House Of The Rising Sun makes a good reggae workout).

Then ty some jazz

Re: Guitar sound question

If you look at the live performances of One Of These nights on you tube you'll see that the band use a mix of Les Paul (humbuckers) and Telecasters (single-coils), so it's time to sit down with your gear and experiment for ten minutes. Generally, though, select the bridge pickup and set the tone hig...

Re: Partial Chords

Oh, there is no confusion about your request. I'm gobsmacked that you haven't got this worked out; they are very basic chords just played on the top three strings. The E uses a D shape, the A and B use an E shape and Am7 uses an Em7 shape Timing and chord 0:00 E 0:08 B 0:16 E 0:23 E7 0:24 A 0:27 Am7...

Re: Partial Chords

ok - Arthur Anderson were a dodgy firm of accountants back in the day - the song was originally by Arthur Alexander Playing the Rolling Stones cover version on Youtube - you're right, it's in E - it's a standard three-chord trick and should be causing you no trouble. Right - everybody knows Keith Ri...

Re: Can anyone help me with learning this song

I couldn't see it on Ultimate Guitar OK - so these are your left-hand shapes; the numbers are fret numbers above the Capo, right? Looking at it on YouTube it looks like you've got your string order wrong - the top line of your "shapes" appears to be the bottom string Playing along with it - no capo,...

Re: Lefty but play right-handed?

Yeah - us lefties tend to find the world doesn't want to cater for us; so we adapt. I write left-handed, have left-handed scissors in the kitchen and a left-handed ruler in the office, throw a ball left-handed, catch in either hand, can use a knife and fork either way round, hold a cricket bat right...

Re: The B note buzzes when I slide or hammer on.....

Well, if it only happens on that one note, then it's not your amp.

You might have a fret that's standing a bit proud higher up the neck
