Epiphone Special II GT rocks! Amazing guitar for the money. Honest humbuckers, Whammy bar is old school, but usable. Tone knob kill switch for Bucket Head articulations.

Done properly, alternate tunings won't hurt your guitar. As noted in the previous post, don't tighten them too much. Relax! Seriously, feel your throat when you sing; I bet it's tight as hell. First, try warming up a little lower and gradually work your way up to the notes in your recording. Don't sing the note ON your break. Decide which gear sounds best and practice singing it there instead of in transition.

The problem with singing higher, especially rock songs, is that we tend to tense up. Doesn't help; you've gotta stay loose. Try buzzing your lips like you're playing cars with a kid. Your falsetto is probably not gone. I'm 48 and have a decent falsetto, if I say so myself. How long ago did you start to sing lower? Have you been ill recently?
