The first couple sentences say it all on the "Scott" link . 1. You get what you pay for . 2. If $$$ allows , avoid behringer /peavey/ mackie/ and similar low end products. 3. see #1 One thing that Ive seen over the years is a lot of guys dont understand Gain Structure . Very important .

try cleaning the jacks with contact cleaner --- this can be bought at Home depot or radio shack . A common problem in the cheapo made MG Marshalls is bad solder joints. you have to pull the PCB and re-flow the solder joints .

if you "daisy chain" 3 - 8 ohm boxes your amp is seeing 2 ohms. Not good if its not rated for 2 ohms and if its a cheapo Carvin powered mixer---i bet its not up to that task.

Already mentioned -- but always use a grounded AC cable = 3 prong. If you have a rack and a bunch of noise you might have a ground loop. One way to eliminate that is a product called Hum-frees . Not much you can do in a lively small room when you have a loud drummer . Try and mix over the top of the cymbals if you can , obviously dont use overheads , believe me i deal with it every week and it sucks! :| Another thing to do is talk with the venue owner about hanging carpet or cloth on the wa...
