Re: Dust In The Wind

Is the audio for the pick up for the alternate (pick up 1A)? He added two notes according to the way back machine. Pinches become 1/16th notes followed by an A and a G respectively.

To quote Gilmour as well as my memory can recall, it's a song that you can happily noodle around in B minor for hours.

I like the first solo a lot, even if it's short.

Re: Bass Compressor?

Update. The reviews for the MX-87 were very good, and I discovered that MarkBass also made a compressor, at the same price. I finagled GC to let me try them both, and there was really very little difference - both were very quiet! So I bought the MarkBass because it matches my amp. I use the Markba...

I like my Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Blue pedal, it's just enormous and has its own power supply.

Re: wearing out my fretboard?

Is it just gunk buildup? Might try a good cleaning and then a light coating of lemon oil to see if it looks better or not.

Re: Hollow Body?

Pardon me for a dumb question, but what are the benefits of a thin vs chunky neck? I don't have banana hands, slo would it be safe to assume that I'd prefer a skinnier neck? Not necessarily. And the shape matters a lot, too. Go to youtube and look for videos of korean/north korean children playing ...

Re: Ready to learn some jazz... what should I do?

Noteboat! Can you give me an example of a few jazz tunes I can learn the chords to? And a page where they are written down so I can learn them. I just don't know where to start with the resources..... and I think the best thing for me to personally start with would be a few songs that I could play ...

Re: Hollow Body?

It's even more important with a hollow body to try them out before you buy them than a solid body. It can be tough, though, because stores don't generally carry as many. Ibanex Artcores are decent guitars if you like Ibanez necks. If you like a chunkier neck they're not so good. Another suggestion, ...

Re: Stuck

If books are your thing, John Ganapes has a good blues riff book (companion to his blues method books) called "Blues Riffs You Can Use". It's not just a bunch of riffs, but has good explanations for how to drop them in to 12-bar blues. There are some riffs that he explains how to just use part of th...

Re: "My hands are too small to play guitar"

If their guitar isn't comfortable to them they're not going to want to play. There's always Daisy Rock, and some of their guitars don't have flower shaped bodies, but the cool ones do.

Re: Guitar for beginners

For a first guitar you might be better going to a shop rather than buying something you've never held in your hands. Even if you can't play a single note, try out different guitars to feel what different necks feel like. That's going to be the most important part, the feel of the neck. It's going to...

Re: Interactive Chord Charts

That thing's pretty cool.

It's comically useless with my phone's touchscreen, even zoomed in, though. My teacher's starting to throw all kinds of new chord shapes at me and it would be useful as a memory game when I'm sitting somewhere bored.

NGD: Birthday present to myself...

http://imgur.com/GLeyw.jpg All I've got is a not-so-great phone image since I loaned my good camera to my parents for their eBay addiction... It's a Classic Series 50s Strat in surf green. Everything's better in surf green. I bought it to tinker with (planned on putting in Seymour Duncan Antiquity ...

I've got a copy of Greatest Hits on vinyl that I picked up in a record shop in Novosibirsk, Russia on a student exchange to the USSR in 1991 around here somewhere. The Soviet Melodiya label did a nice job pressing records.
