Re: Y12, W11 - Young Love.

Nice, just wondering which song was the "anti-inspiration". Was it "I Think I Love You" or another song by The Partridge Family. That was in the running for me  . Looking forward to the music :D

Re: Y12, W11 - This week's topic/assignment.

I remember the "all-in-one" AM/FM radio/8-track/record player that my parents bought around 1971. This morning I woke up and one emerged to meet cross-purposes since I want to work on love songs. The one I am leaning to is an old Elvis 60's movie album tune. How about if we reference the song in our...

Re: Y12, W11 - This week's topic/assignment.

Yeah, great topic! Oh for me this prompt brings back memories of the old record players with the record changing arm. We had one that if it were left in the open/loading position, it would play whatever record was on the platter over and over and over and over, or AM radio that would play the top hi...

Re: Y12 W9 - Whatever

Welcome and +1 on Vic's comment. With this lyric I am also hearing in my head a solo singer songwriter folkie style like John Denver, Eric Andersen, Gordon Lightfoot, Joan Baez, etc..

Re: Y12 W10 Intentions, Resolutions And Continuations 2014

Had a bit of trouble wrapping my brain around this line from the chorus: Old patterns wash towards waves pushed by wind Maybe it's just how I'm picturing it in my head but if the wind is pushing the washes, should they (the waves) be washing towards the patterns and not the other way around? It was...

Re: Y12, W10 - 2014.

Hi Vic, Wow, that covers a lot of ground, I'm wondering how this might sound as an epic suite where its a 12-20 minute album side/song broken up into songlets ala side 2 of Abbey Road, or various stuff by 10cc, Rush, Yes, etc.. Or maybe focus a bit more on one particular phase, maybe thats the song,...

Re: Y12, W10 - Two oh one four

Hi Sunnydunes! Numbers are fun, it has a bouncy sound to me. I like the repetition. One suggestion that comes to my mind, maybe you may want to try is to cut down on articles "a" "an "the" and use fewer "I" and "I've" self-references and maybe just for fun put the numbers at the start of the line. A...

Yes very catchy! I like the flip on the meaning of "Whatever" into a love song (as opposed to the snarky comment)

Re: Y12 W9 Here Comes The Royal Whatever

I think this is great :D reminds me of Cohen I am humbled and honored. Leonard is one of my songwriting heroes and I was lucky enough to see him perform earlier this year in Tampa. If this was my song I would do 2 things with it, 1) I would repeat the "whatever" at the end after the last "repeat in...

Re: SSG12 - Week8 - Castles in the sky

Hi Paul, I like the internal couplets added to the end rhymes. Hearing kind of a folkie country John Denver style song in my head but thats just me. I am wondering if you thought about slipping a bit of imagery in the lyric. For example in version one I look at you and I see right through the clouds...

Re: Y12, W8 - Two Of Clubs.

Hey Vic, I like the premise and the contrast between kings and buskers. I like Dave's suggestion too, and shifting the focus. After reading several times a thought occurs that I wonder how substituting "I'm not royalty" with "Hey listen to me" might work in one or more of the verses. It probably dep...
