Re: Quick amp help, blackstar or fender stage

Dunno about the Fender amp but the valve sound dynamics on the Blackstar seem pretty authentic. And at low or high volume output too! So you can spend time setting up the sound you want in the comfort of your own home.....on low volume settings....safe in the knowledge that you will get the same pla...

Re: Buzzing noise on my Squier Strat

Does the humming reduce or stop if you touch the strings or any metal parts on the Guitar? Like the metal part of the bridge or any metal tone or volume knobs.....or the metal jack imput plate?

Re: How did you learn guitar?

YouTube and books. Lots of great books from local library. Have recently considered paying for lessons but approaching my sixtieth year, I'm just happy enough to be able to knock out some nice sounds rather than get hyped over technique.

Anyone tried or uses a Harley

Benton guitar? I'm looking to buy a hollow body Harley Benton 'Manhattan' guitar from a retailer in Germany. It's cheap (selling at £160). It ticks all of my boxes for a guitar to try some jazz on....I have seen videos on ***tube of it being played and it sounds great (the player however is obviousl...

Re: 68ish Strat with Mildew!

I was going to suggest white vinegar and COLD water diluted to 1 : 10 ratio. Use cotton wool rather than a rag. Certainly not paper towel as they can be abrasive.

Re: Guitar won't stay in tune!

Are the open strings going out of tune? Or is the intonation happening when you play notes/chords on the first 5 frets.....or frets 6 to 12.....or the frets above fret 12? There are different remedies for poor intonation at different areas of the fretboard. Have you tried tempered tuning?....tuning ...

Re: Hard to press down strings

Ok. So have put a lighter top e string on guitar. It does seem to play better/ easier to press string. But something has happened with tuning. The fretted notes on the first 2 frets on e string play sharp. As a 'trade off' I have to tune the string a little flat . So D major chord played on the seco...

Re: Hard to press down strings

Thanks for the reply. I think my guitar is set up as well as it could be. The gap between my low E string and the body fret (fret 16) is about 3 mm. And I have done that check where you put capo on first fret and press the low 3 string at the body fret.....and the gap at fret7 is about one mililitre...

Hard to press down strings

I've been playing accoustic guitar for around a year and still have problems playing some Barre chords. Especially the F major chord on first fret. So much so that I always look to play chords that dont need some part of its fingering on first fret. I have tuned my guitar down a tone also. Makes pre...
