Re: Favorite Song:

Really had to think hard on this one, I have many favourites but "Maggie May" Rod Stewart and the Faces always comes shining through for me. Great to play & really easy chords, great story lyrics. Just wish I had the gravelly voice to go with it. The song always takes me back to memories of my very ...

Re: bb king at Glastonbury

Great stuff, I watched too on Friday evening. BB hasn't lost his touch at all! Incredible for a man who sayes he's old! I was captivated from the start of his set. What a tight band too. I sensed that the Glastonbury audience didn't quite get him but by the last third of his set he had them in the p...

Re: If anyone's got a prayer to spare.....

Hey Vic, I've not been on GN for such a long time, I should have been! My thoughts are with you all and especially for Marilyn. It sounds like she's on the long road to recovery from what you have told us so far. So chin up mate, keep holding her hand and soon you'll both be walking out of there tog...

Re: Song Retention

I find all the time that if I'm hearing a song on the radio or CD and I know and love it, I'm always right there with the next line but doing it all on your own is a different kettle of fish. So I've decided through bitter open mic experiences that there is no shame in playing in front of your audie...

Re: Now I know where all the plecs go!

Vic wrote - and seven plecs. Seven! One Jim Dunlop yellow nylon 80mm Thats one seriously very thick plec there Vic! No wonder your filter blocked, you must have had huge holes in the washing drum too. I know it's a typo on the decimal point but I thought it was hilarious when I read it. Cheers, Chris

Hey hey! Vic,

Thanks mate.

What have we unleashed upon our poor unsuspecting guitar playing friends across the pond.

Staying off topic for just a moment more, watch this Vic :

Re: G Em C D

Loved reading this thread! Reminded me of the late great Eric Morcambe (much loved British comic) and his classic comic sketch with Andre Previn at the piano. Andre: " No! No! Eric you are playing all tthe wrong notes!" Eric: "Now Mr Preview! I am playing all the correct notes but neccessarly in the...

Re: The dreaded barred chords...

I've been playing guitar for about 6 years now! And as Vic knows only to well, I had real trouble with barre chords. I still do!! It's a love hate relationship with me and the dreaded barre chords. At home in the seclusion of the practice room I can form them quite well and switch between open chord...

Re: Alternative to a Plectrum

I've always had a love/hate relationship wth pics and must confess to prefering not using one as I don't like the sound of plastic on the strings when strumming. This is probably because I tend to use soft pics 0.38 or 0.45 thick. Can't get along with harder pics at all. I also find I can get intere...

Re: Folk singer Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary dead at 72

Sad news indeed!

There's was a true iconic sound of the 60's.

Love "If I Had A Hammer"

Doubly sad because Mary had beaten the "big C" but she was left so weakened by the treatment and then fell prey to another illness.

R.I.P. Mary
