If he gave you the guitar then take it. That's actually on my list for the best beginner guitars so that is a great choice for a guitar. If you have to pay for it then that's a different story. It's still a good guitar but IDK if you should pay that much that soon

Re: Guitar and Amp question

All you really need is 5 watts to be at home. I use a blackstar ht 5 and I don't even put the volume past 5. If you want a list of more amps for you then you can check out my list of The Best Guitar Amps for Beginners and Intermediate Players

Tony Iommi literally doesn't have fingertips on his playing hand. You'll find a way

Don't worry too much about it. Most people stick to like 3 or 4 scales, it'll come over time

Re: Hello, I'm new to the site here

Well if you have guitars and amps already then you'll just need to go on youtube and look up some tutorials on songs you want to play. See the guitars they have and look up some stuff. Humbuckers are for heavier things and single coils are more for softer music. I learned everything I know from yout...

Re: What kind of electric guitar should I get?

I recommend a Les Paul for anything really. There a lot of things you can do really with a Les Paul. If I could choose a new guitar I would get another Jackson. I have a more in depth page on my website but I don't want to shamelessly plug it.

Re: Holding a guitar pick correctly

I kind of play with my index finger pressed on the pick. I play with a jazz iii and that's just much more comfortable than any tortex. It took me a while to find a comfortable medium too though. You'll get it soon.

I do kind of have trouble playing standing up though. I'm a bedroom player and nothing more.

Re: Sitting or standing?

When I played in my first band it was shocking how much transition was necessary for me to stand. I just spent so many hours practicing while sitting. Never even used a strap before that. Now I don't play without it. Sitting or not. I would agree with Alan. You should practice both ways I've never ...

Re: need help finding first electric guitar

I can actually help you out with that. I have an article up on that right now that gives you plenty of options based on who you want to play like. For your style I recommend a Jackson. If you want to check the article out, it's in my signature
