Re: New toy, and question about strings

Nylon wrapped with or without flat tape will work very nicely, and look cool too. Fender makes both kinds.

Listen to White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane - that may give you some ideas. I believe that the most useful key is Em, but I'm not sure.

Re: Finding a Great Drummer?

Wait, I'm confused. Either we're talking about playing songs correctly, or we're talking about the blues. Can't have both. 8) Noteboat is wise. I don't like going to a concert where every lick is exactly like the album. In the audience, I'd like to think that the performers are playing for us, and h...

Re: Your favourite covers!

Melissa Etheridge has done a few covers live, though I've never seen them released. They're were great in person. Maggie May - complete with mandolin Shook Me All Night Long - knockin' me out... Born To Run - on TV from one of the post 9/11 tribute shows. And if you like Bruce: http://www.youtube.co...

Re: From the club owner's perspective...

Just to follow up, we played a "showcase" last Monday at a club that books 3rd tier national acts on the weekends, but is quiet Sun-Tues. We emailed over 200 friends, assuring them that we would be done by 9p so they could get on home. Not withstanding a cold drizzle and the ever-expanding flu, we o...

Re: From the club owner's perspective...

Don't forget to add supply-and-demand into the equation. Here near Philly, there are many more bands than bars, so it's difficult to get gigs, and they don't pay nuthin. Unless you're established with a reputation and a following, it's tough to get started - catch-22. Conversely, back in CT (esp inl...

Re: Life Getting In The Way

There are only so many hours in a day, and family comes first. However, you've already started to introduce your daughter to music, and perhaps someday she'll play along with you. In the mean time, you may be in a bit of an "acoustic" phase of your life. Just go with it. Your life will change contin...
