A FANTASTIC Jimi Hendrix biog is "Jimi Hendrix: Musician" by Keth Shadwick. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0879307641/103-6596996-4687842?v=glance&n=283155 Like the title suggests, it focuses on his musicanship first and foremost whilst still including his roots and rise. Shadwick also deconstruct...

Nice stuff :) It's the kind of feeling that hits everyone at some time during their life. Only a suggestion, but instead of: "I've made too many plans That never came to action" Maybe: "I've made too many plans That never came to fruition" Just an idea. It might not fit in to the music style or the ...

Only had time to listen to Mad Monkey Kung Fu but 8) . The guitar, bass, etc are terrific. It has a lazy cutting beguiling vibe to it. Most of my suggestions are about the the pattern of the lyrics. Below is my re-arangemnet (if that's alright). The timing is still the same: [00.48] 3 styles of monk...

Enjoyed that. The only things I can say is that I'm not sure about the entry of the 'space' effect at 00.11. Part of me liked the suddenness of it appearing but a much larger part feels that a quick fade in might sound better. The only other thing is the ending, it seemed kind of anti-climactic for ...

Your favourite narrative songs

For some reason I found myself listening to Squeeze's 'Up The Junction' and was just wondering if anyone has heard interesting songs that have a strong storyline to them and sound good?

As well as the aformentioned Squeeze track, Johnny Cash's ' A Boy Named Sue' springs to mind. Any others?

Maybe tabbers ought to resort to television / movie style disclaimers: "The chords and notes depicted in this tablature are fictitious. Any similarity to actual songs, past or present, is purely coincidental." Of course some creative song titles would be needed. Back In Black becomes Return In Noir....

Well, Powertabs and Mysongbook have currently stopped uploads and downloads (before I had a chance to hoard  ). How much revenue do tab books make anyway. I can't recall any muscian actively going on a show to say "Well, My new tab book is coming out next week so I'm doing a lot of publicity f...

The End - First heard this when watching Apocalypse Now as a kid. Left quite an imprint and bought The Best of the Doors the next day. Light My Fire - The reason I took up guitar. Bobby Krieger's guitar tone and solo is sublime; like a slow burning ember. L.A Woman Riders On The Storm Break On Throu...

Classical Gas

My attempt at some fingerpicking. I first heard a snippet of this song on The Simpsons and it hooked me. Downloaded the tab years ago and learnt some of the intro. Then I looked at the rest of the tab, the speed it had to be played at and thought 'sod that!' Anyway, a few months ago I stumbled acros...

Anyone own a Playstaion 2?

Just been reading about a new game called "Guitar Hero". Instead of using a normal controller (although you can use one) you use a "Gibson SG-based guitar peripheral" it's along the lines of the dancing games you hear about - sort of a party game. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/663/663674p1.html And he...

Listening to it again, there is a slight resemblance to The Peter Gunn Theme out of Tthe Blues Brothers.

To me that sounds kind of like a slowed down version of Wipeout.
