Re: SSG Weeks 9and 10 MP3 Added

Thanks to both of you gentlemen! I agree the last verse was a re-write and I wasn't altogether happy with it. That's why it goes up here, to get some suggestions for tweaking!
I'll be adjusting this one for sure, and I think this might be the next original the band takes on.

SSG Weeks 9and 10 MP3 Added

Hey Sunday Songwriters! Long time no see  ! The muse eluded me thru most of 2014. Although I've checked the topic faithfully every week, I haven't been able to come up with more than a line or 2 each week. ( I have saved all those lines for future use, though!) On Saturday I was riding in the c...

Re: Y12 W12a ( aka W13 ) Adult language

Trev, I think the word this is the word you were looking for:

im·mi·nent
[im-uh-nuhnt] Show IPA
adjective
1.
likely to occur at any moment; impending: Her death is imminent.

And now Mr Lewis and I will return to grammar police headquarters.

Re: YR 12 Wk 9 Whatever

I have very distinct music in my head for this, ( again, probably a direct rip-off of a Sondheim number), but it's orchestral, and very much above my abilities as a guitarist,or musician in general for that matter. I'm going to play around on the keyboard today just to see if I can get something bar...

Re: YR 12 Wk 9 Whatever

How about:

Whatever songs I play for a crowd

The songs belong to you
or
Whatever songs I play for a crowd
I'm singing just for you
or
The words are just for you
or
It's your soul that shines through?????

Re: Y12 W9 - Whatever.

Hey Vic, looks like we're both trying to dust off the old writing chops, eh? I agree with David that the last two lines of your first verse are awesome, and if you don't stick em in here somewhere, use them in anther song definitely. Why do I see you pointing a certain digit when I read some of your...

YR 12 Wk 9 Whatever MP3 added

OK, in full disclosure I must admit that I watched the documentary "Six on Sondheim",not once, but twice in the last couple of weeks! What a genius. I am quite sure that this rhyme scheme and cadence came straight from Stephen, but do not apologize. It was a fun exercise. And as the maestro said in t...

Charley and Lily Lily is a wild child Cattin round the neighborhood til two or three Charley is more meek and mild The view from his front window is all he can see Running up and down the street she caught his eye Looking out the window as she ran by Oh Lily, my Lily white pretty girl Wish I had the...

Took a half- hearted shot a music last night. Still needs editing, and a bridge, I think. Will soldier on!

Week 45

December 16, 1957. You Send Me was the current hit. I've been listening to a lot of VERY early Beatles today, so this just kind of flowed in that style. You Send Me Chorus: You send me out of my mind I’m barely holding on to whatever I can find You send me right round the bend Fly halfway to the moo...

Week 44 Having a Wonderful Time

I wrote this just before I saw Vic and David's post about " having a wonderful time, wish you were here"! Steel drums anyone? Having a Wonderful Time Chorus: Having a wonderful time The sun and the sand are sublime A tropical drink on a tray To while the hours away Some sun block and paperback book ...

Week 28. You, and Her, and Me.

I've been participating in a 60's music ensemble; this one has an early 60's vibe going on. You and Her and Me. Baby, I know she broke your heart And left you in misery And I know, I’m not as funny or smart But someday I long to be The one to make you smile again The one to set you free But now when...
