Re: so lonely
The key changes to D when the solo kicks in, everything moves up a whole step so the Bm pentatonic would make sense as it's the relative minor of D major.

Re: GN Summertime Blues Jams - New Jams Added
Great job everyone! Really enjoyed hearing all the different takes as well as taking part.
As for my equipment, I used a battered Yamaha guitar with old strings (don't know the model) went straight to the computer through a guitarport with one of the presets.

Re: Which music software to choose?
Chris: BIAB works great with cubase. You can render the basic MIDI track in BIAB, import it in cubase and change the notes/sounds as much as you want. Yep, I do it all the time for knocking up quick jam tracks, the difference is huge when you are using even just half decent samples. Chris, let me k...

Re: Soundproofing...
To properly sound proof a room is very involved, very expensive and eats up a lot of the available space so forget anything that's not a large room. If all you want to do is cut the sound down a bit by sticking something on the walls then don't go spending a lot of money. Just think heavy and dense....

Re: I can't do Vibrato - any ideas?
I think where most beginners go wrong is they overlook the anchor points to pivot from. Rotating from the wrist / elbow while keeping the hand and fingers in an almost rigid position, requires part of the hand (usually between the underside of the first finger knuckle and the hooked over thumb) to a...

Re: something's weird
:D Ok, I've tried it in firefox and it's all working no problem. The site has indeed changed appearrance so I guess this problem is to do with the update. If I go directly to www.guitarnoise.com I cannot access it with IE6, I get a Windows popup dialog about "can't open page" or something similar. I...

I've been getting the same problem since yesterday. I can get on the forum with no problems if I come here direct but I can't get to the main page. "Internet explorer cannot open the page, operation aborted".

Re: Crash course in mixing?
Mixing is a huge subject and takes a lot of learning and experience, that to be honest ... as great as Audacity is, it will slow down that experience. It's not designed for real multitracking and mixing. Audio sequencers such as Cubase etc are in a completely different league to Audacity. They shoul...

Some great playing on here, and Dog, your playing gets better everytime I listen to one of these jams!
Been a while since I got in on one, I must find some spare time!

Re: xlr question
I just checked Ibanez's web site. It says the 1/4 output is balanced too. To take advantage of that, use a t-r-s plug. Normal people call it a "stereo 1/4" "but it would have to be wired as a balanced cable (tip = pin 3 of XLR, ring = pin 2, sleeve = pin 1). The common way to wire TRS to XLR is Tip...
