Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

Are there any good sites that you can buy music that has tab and standard notation both? I still remember some from band in highschool, and it seems having the tab also would be a good way to work things out, kinda the best of both worlds.

Re: Blues Pedals

I went ahead and bought the Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9. I really like it. To me it sounds quite a bit different than the Bad Monkey.

Re: John Mayer's new album

I never really liked him before, but finally sat down and listened to his stuff. He's much better than I thought. I don't like actually watching him, but some of his stuff is really good. I don't care for his latest album at all, or his acoustic stuff. He's no SRV, but he is actually good. He is mor...

Re: Set up?

Where about on the south side are you? I live north, in The Woodlands, and there are a couple of good places up that way. Texas Music Emporium and Nedd's Guitars. I'd stay away from Guitar Center though.

Re: Beginner blues

DOn't try to learn too many too fast. Start with three or so, then work on making clean chord changes and proper finger placement. You'd be surprised how many songs you can play with just a few chords.

Blues Pedals

Finally finished with all my beginner lessons, and making good progress in Intermediate Styles (Blues) Lessons. I love the Texas Blues stuff (SRV, etc) and I'm starting to learn other Blues greats riffs. I recently got a new 2012 American Standard with the Custom Shop Fat 50's pickups, and it sounds...

Re: --> Share things you've learned about guitar

- No matter how long you're playing- You'll always have something new to learn - You'll never meet a guitarist that will admit he's a great one, even if it's Jimi Hendrix :D Exactly! I was practicing the other day and my wife came home, and said "When are you gonna learn that? You've been preactici...

Re: Starting over- without a teacher

The lessons here are quite good, and another site I use often also is Justinguitar.com Very structured and organized, and covers lots of great info. Check both out. I feel it's good to have a number of resources.

Bending

I'm finally getting into the meat of my intermediate blues lessons, and working on full tone bends at the moment. I use 10's on all of my guitars, because I like a little fuller tone, and my action is normally fairly low as well. I'm wondering if bends on the high E string are easier just a bit high...

Re: So happy - Finally got a Uke!

Can you recommend any good beginner sites? My son has been wanting one for ages, and I finally bought him one today. I've been trying to push him towards an electric, but for some reason that's all he's been interested in.

Re: Stuck

Learn as many licks from other people's solos as you can, chop and change them and use them in your own blues solos. This is why there are so many books and magazines out there showing you how to play other people's licks. I've read that somewhere else. Is that kinda what most people that pla...
