Singing In A New Year

Just a couple of words regarding David Hodge's lesson "Singing In A New Year". Specifically the part where he writes: "if possible, you should record yourself singing something". My advice: DON'T DO IT! You sound horrible. Just kidding. There must be something wrong with my computer's microphone. At...

I just bought a Masterbilt and I'm very happy with it. A lot of quality guitar for the price. I talked them down to $499 at Guitar Center. Here's a link to another post with my opinions about my new axe:

My son wants an SG when he outgrows his Fender mini. He says it's comfortable to hold and he likes the look (he's a big fan of Angus Young). He also prefer's the crunch of humbucker's over his single coils. PVTele brought up a good point. I've never played a flying V sitting down, but I couldn't ima...

Would someone like to put up an MP3 for me to listen to? I have no trouble playing muted, but on my accoustic it sounds less than impressive when I play an entire song that way

Thanks, that looks great. It's what I was looking for. I'm going to give it a go tonight.

Strum "Folsom Prison"

Would anyone like to offer some suggestions on how to strum "Folsom Prison" and maybe some easy fills to spice it up a little? I'm playing it "E"-"A"-"B7". I'm trying to do an alternating bass note strum like I learned from the "Margaritaville" lesson, but I don't want it to sound like "Margaritavil...

I just bought a Masterbilt DR-500M last week. Solid spruce top and solid mahogany sides. The DR-500P is maple and the DR-500R is rosewood. Check out my post from last week under " Guitar Players Discussion: New Acoustic = Happy"

Look at my last post to see why I chose this guitar.

My $99 beater is also an Epiphone. PR150. I chose it cause it was cheap and I liked the tabacco-burst finish. I'll bring this one camping. I chose the Masterbilt for a few reasons. It sounds awsome and I like the way it looks including the snowflake inlays on the fingerboard, the retro headstock whi...

It's not like riding a bike! I couldn't even remember Stairway  I couldn't even impress my 8 year old. He was like, "Dad, can you play some Greenday?" And I was like, "How about 'Smoke on the Water' again?" Really though, it's coming back. I was not much of a guitarist before anyhow. I think ...

New Acoustic = Happy

I'm 33 years old and I just started playing guitar again after about 10 years off. Like a lot of people, I played when I was young and gave it up cause I didn't think I'd ever be any good. Well, since then, I've grown and I have a family and a real job and all that, my goals are more realistic. I ju...

That's cool. I bought my 8 year old son a 3/4 size Fender strat this year and he's taking lessons. I decided to dust off my guitar that's been sitting for about 10 years and start playing along with him.

I've just recently picked up the guitar again after not playing for almost 10 years. I have a 1983 Ibanez Artist which I love and a cheap-o acoustic that I picked up for short money. I'm pretty dissatisfied with the acoustic and so I've decided to spend a few more bucks on a nice(r) one and I'm tryi...
