Re: I Need some advice!

Bonjour! I was considering this bass when I bought mine several years ago. Yamaha makes great entry level instruments and that bass is really nice for the budget. You have selected and split-coil/single-coil configuration so you get the best of both worlds. My bass is a Jazz-bass, it has two single-...

Re: Beginner Scales

You could work on this series of lessons (there are several links in the lessons that you could read):

And read this recent thread:

Re: Practice Help

Don't worry, all of us have the same problem while learning new chords. This is an interesting tip:

Play as slow as possible while learning, accuracy is most important than speed, it will come later.

MIDI Guitar

As usual I don't know where to post this topic :) I was messing around with this software. It doesn't work 100% but it does it much better than I though. It converts the guitar analog signal into MIDI. It allows polyphony so you can play chords. The software has a couple of piano patches and a coupl...

A silly question: why do you use the iron? For hotting the glue?

Re: BIAS and iPad

Currently I am considering to buy an iRig or similar interface. I was reviewing the applications and it seems there are many good ones. A friend of mine who plays keyboards uses the iPad with a small MIDI keyboard.

Re: In need of some guidance..

There are many good lessons in the main site. You could work on them. Many, many lessons are "song-based", I mean, you will practice some chords or strumming patterns or scales applied to that song. As Dogbite said, I'd start with a good set of open chords and smooth changes between them. Welcome to...

Re: Best Guitar Amps (Combos Only)

Tube or solid state? 15w to 100w looks too wide range. Do you play with a drummer?

Under those restrictions, try to find an used amp. I was in the market recently and the most basic tubes amp starts around $400.

Re: Blackstar amps

Thank you! It was the first time I was in that store. The salesman seemed very kind and it has very good stuff but I had never heard the brand. I was looking for a small practice amp, I needed a second amp, my "main" is a small Fender tube amp. Finally I bought a Fender Mustang. It is an "Ok" amp fo...

New Year Resolutions

To improve my reading music notation. I can read and I can sight read with others instruments but not with guitar so I guess I will work on this skill along the year. To improve my improvisation. I do improvise over chord changes mainly by using scale notes and simple licks. Lately I am including ar...
