Re: My Man Cave

Great picture Bish, I'm very envious of you having such a great purpose built area for music, my wife moans about me having 2 guitars, 1 amp and 1 pedal board in the corner of our lounge.

Re: Hawaii Five 0

Slightly OT, for anyone with the knowledge: is the song changing key several times? :) The shame of it is that for most of the tune I haven't much clue what key I'm in  . I'm not sure how to even describe the parts of the song as there seems no way to describe as if it was verse and chorus. I...

Hawaii Five 0

After doing The Shadows cover I thought I would do Walk Don't Run but I couldn't resist trying this one. It's a real cracker of a tune that I've always liked and when I realised that The Ventures had done a cover of it I knew I had to have a go at it. I initially thought it would be fairly easy but ...

Re: Homeward Bound (simon and garfunkel)

Great cover, you make singing sound so easy but offcourse its not. It reminds me I must learn some Simon and Garfunkel.

Re: Apache

Thanks for the replies and for looking at the video. Boxboy What a workout! Lots of dynamics and tricky little passages. It actually breaks down so well for learning purposes and so many techniques bends, slides, mutes and tremelo bar  Greybeard Apache was the first tune I learnt, which would ...

Re: How do you get a percussive sound when strumming?

Rich I think you could do it a couple of ways or use both . By hitting the strings with the palm of your strumming hand (almost a slap )just before strumming down it gives you a good click, so as you strum down your palm has muted all the notes. Secondly you could release the fretting hand slightly ...

Love it, a really good cover of a great old song. How many guitar parts are you playing there?

Re: More jazz book studies (now with video)

It is curious... Today I was watching this video in my mobile phone with a friend (it is a Sony Ericsson and it has a kind of YouTube plugin to watch the videos). We selected the option related videos (I have checked it with the computer right now) and do you know the videos that are in the list? B...

Re: Apache

Greybeard thanks for taking the time to watch and post. First things first - you need to use the trem to get the "shimmer" on your sound. It only needs the smallest amount. Its integral to the song and I'm hoping to get to work on it, just feels awkward to use at this point. I don't keep the Trem ar...

Re: More jazz book studies (now with video)

I clicked on your video and the first lick reminded me of something else entirely, now don't laugh but It reminded me somewhat of the bass  intro to Creams Badge. I've now had to put Badge on to compare and offcourse it sounds nothing like it but thats what I thought on first listen. Cool play...

Apache

I'm attempting a cover of the classic 1960 hit Apache by The Shadows. I still consider myself a novice so it is far from perfect and there is plenty for me to work on. I wanted to get something down so I can come back to this at a later date and see if I can play it properly. I was born 7 years afte...

Re: Mexican Stratocaster vs American

I've got a Mex Strat. I've just had a set of the Bill Turner Hot noiseless pups put in as it suffered from the 60 cycle hum when I used gain or od. Apart from the noise I loved it as it was but I couldnt put up with the noise so had the pups changed and now its everything I need. Ive got no intentio...
