Re: Tuning - How low can I go?

Jason I'm not sure what you are talking about. This isn't about changing the key for the singer the question was about can I play Drop C and everything else down a whole step with my regular guitar setup. We are not tuning down for the singer he likes to sing it like thatand are trying to play it li...

Re: Ears vs Eyes Part II

Fleaa I did see that and I liked him too. I knew the voice was familiar but took me awhile to realize he was Fallout Boy's singer but he's got a very good voice and if I remember he played guitar too in the show.

Re: tabs for htis pc of music

To be honest it's unlikely anyone is going to sit down and write out the tab for you, but you never know someone might. Your best bet is to find someone local to you to do it. You might have to pay for it though.

Re: Tuning - How low can I go?

moon transposing songs isn't the problem (although personally I think some songs just don't cut it in other keys) in this particular song this is the way the original is played and it suits his voice fine just not my guitar and yes these guys use 7 string guitars which I don't have, but in this song...

Re: Ears vs Eyes Part II

Notes I was only kidding about hijacking the post and I do beleive in the value of reading and having good ears but just wanted to get a feeling about what other people thought. In my small musical world good ears would take me alot farther than the ability to read music (which I once could do at a ...

Re: Ears vs Eyes Part II

OK I shouldn't hijack my own thread but as far as TV goes I watch very little myself but could never see giving it up. The only real "show" I watch is Big Bang Theory" anything else is either the Discovery Channel, Animal Plant or Smithsonian and some PTV, they all offer what I would call educationa...

Re: Tuning - How low can I go?

Thanks Note that's what I was afraid of. I'm not liking the sound of the Drop C and down a whole step either. Not sure I can pull it off without changing strings

Tuning - How low can I go?

Ok can anyone give a general rule of thumb as to how low I can tune without making vast adjustments to my strings/guitar. Right now most of the stuff we play is in standard tuning but we have several that are a half step and a few Drop D songs. None of those are an issue. But we have a new singer wh...

Ears vs Eyes Part II

Ok so we had a good discussion on the ear vs eyes (sight reading) so now I'll throw out a more realistic question. Which do you think is "easier" to learn. I use easier with a grain of salt because neither is really easy but.. Personally at least for me it would seem that learning to sight read woul...

Ear vs Eyes

I thought I would throw out a hypothetical question in line with some of Honeyboy's recent posts. Just something to get opinions on. Honeyboy already asked the question about guitar player vs musician but I am taking a slightly different angle and that is ear vs ability to read standard notation. Fo...

Re: Live concerts that are just like the record

It's just amazing to see how everyone's preferred experiences are so different. There is a decent sized music venue int he area that gets big acts. The venue was recently redone with theatre type seating etc. Everything is very nice and comfortable....but I went to see Santana there a year or so ago...

Re: Live concerts that are just like the record

Well there you go and I thought I was crazy. OK I probably am but I think people in general want to hear the artist's play them like they heard them on the record. That is the memory Notes is describing. You may have been with somone or something special when you first heard the riff or solo or what...

Re: Live concerts that are just like the record

OK I like a good debate and I'm bored so I'll bite. Personally I am the opposite it doesn't have to be exactly liek the record but pretty close that's what got me there in the first place not some hope they'd do something wildly different live. But that's not the whole story either alot of times the...
