Re: Computer FX?

hey, I'm afraid I don't know much about computer software - but if you're willing to spend a few quid I'd recommend picking up a line6 toneport gx - they're about 40 pounds here in the uk. It lets you connect via your usb port, hence removing any latency issues, and comes with gearbox software - bas...

New Pickups - Are P90s right for me ?

hey guys hey guys, long time no post :P I'm thinking about upgrading the pickups in my sg copy, and I was thinking about using some humbucker sized p90s - a gfs mean 90 in the bridge (already have) and a vintage vibe cc rider in the neck (currently on sale for an excellent price  ) Anyway, I'm...

Re: confused re: overdrive and distortion

thanks for detailed answer stratman - you even managed to answer my next question about the effects order :-) I've found a nice looking pedal that covers both overdrive and distortion so I think I'll go with that, and let the cube's rectifier setting handle metal tones - I keep forgetting what a ver...

Re: A shape barre chord . . . pinky or 3 fingers?

use your ring finger and dont worry about the high e string, it'll sound just as good without it and makes the chord a whole lot easier to play :-)

Re: Overdrive vs. Distortion

tbh i dont know enough about effects to help you out in choosing od or distortion, but once you've decided go to the link below and consider either a modded ts7 (overdrive) or ds-1 (distortion)...i've heard amazing things about both and they're not that expensive http://www.bodenhamer-electronics.co...

thomann's version of the evj is pretty hard to pass up...add a couple of cheap behringer pedals - eq, od and reverb and you've got the perfect small tube amp setup :) just a few questions 1. overdrive pedal, will it just push the natural tube amp sound or will it colour the tone ? 2. the ibanez has ...

New Line 6 toy

it's the mini toneport! http://www.soundcontrol.co.uk/mod_1/pages/mod_1.12/pages/mod_1.12.1/pages/mod_1.12.1.1/pages/index.php?sku=1.1.1.4.4-14-2 seems pretty cool - same software as its big brothers, but now down to a single guitar/bass input (can be used as an XLR mic input with adapter) and a sin...

if you can stretch to alittle more cash, a yamaha pacifica is an excellent instrument (note, not just an excellent 'beginner' instrucment :D ) cant really recommend a guitar in the price range you wanted, but the squire 51 seems a popular choice and has gotten some excellent reviews. either way you'...

my top two tips in this situation 1. play a different style for a while - learn some jazz or country tunes (i can heartily recommend some rockabilly!) 2. stop playing for a while, dont touch the guitar for a week, chances are by the end of that time you'll be itching to get back to playing and alway...
