Re: Wow...amp problem? Electrical problem? Guitar problem?

Kev, I can't really help but I have a Hot Rod Deluxe and an MIM Strat and I have had similar intermittent problems liek you are describing and I haven't pinned it down yet either. But mine seems to come and go. I think it's the connections but I'm not sure and it's frustrating as heck. The thing is...

Wow...amp problem? Electrical problem? Guitar problem?

Okay. Let me try to make this as short as I can... I have a Fender Blues Jr amp...monster tone, amazing tone, etc. So I had it for about seven months with no problems...then the tone started getting worse, and I lost A LOT of high end. I waited about five months before getting it fixed because I'm l...

Re: RIP Richard Wright

Pink Floyd wouldn't be Pink Floyd without Richard. His beautiful voice, and genius at the piano/keyboards/synth brought such a unique and memorable flavor.

Thanks Rick! Rest in Peace!

Re: I HATE Jimmy Page!

On Page's sloppiness- Stevie Ray Vaughan is probably the best soulful and technical guitarist of all time if you want to look at it like that, but does that make him any better than Jimmy Page because of technical ability? I don't think so. While Jimmy Page was sloppy, he was a monster riff creator ...

Re: Buckethead

While Im not sure he's the best player ever, I don't think it's such a crazy suggestion - He's a respectable candidate for that title so to speak. I've certainly not seen a guitarist who excels to the same degree to such a wide variety of music. Hendrix included. I guess the only reason he's not th...

Re: Marshall Microstack, Sweet sounding amp.

About the loudness of tube amps...before I got my Blues Jr, I had a Roland 15X Cube (15 watts) I asked my mom to stand in the far room of the house and tell me when she could hear me playing...and I had to almost crank the Cube for her to hear me. I did the same thing with the Fender Blues Jr (15 wa...

Re: I want to record...what do I need?

I think you need one of these: Line 6 TonePort UX1 or its big-daddy: Line 6 TonePort UX2 I have the UX1 and it records very nicely. It supports direct recording of your guitar, and has a decent mic preamp. It also has line-level inputs so if want to feed in a mixer (or amp, or other line-level sour...

I want to record...what do I need?

Okay. I know I need a mic. I'm thinking of the Sennheiser e609 or Shure SM57...check. Then what do I need? A pre-amp? What's a good cheap one that I can record into, and then transfer the mp3 files onto my computer for mixing? Are there any other options besides a pre-amp? Is it possible to record w...

Another question about P90's...

My guitar is a Squier '51 and while I love the guitar, I can't stand the bridge pickup. The humbucker sounds very harsh to my ears...so I was thinking of GFS pickups. All reviews say they are great. And I was thinking "why not get some P90's?" They're only about $30 but I'm wondering...would these w...

Re: Maple or Rosewood

As for Jimi's 'Woodstock White' Strat.... I believe it was a stock '68 Strat. The maple board necks back then were two piece; That is, they were built much like the rosewood board necks.... with a seperate fretboard. Notice that it has no 'skunk stripe' on the back of the neck....? Some more info- ...

Re: The Bad Thing About Being Self Taught

Perhaps that's the cause of the plateau - playing the same things over and over again? Maybe look at some ways to spice up your playing. If a song's all open chords, try playing it as barre chords. Try using add9ths instead of major chords, or min7ths and min9ths instead of minor chords. Great advi...

Acoustic guitar...into an electric guitar amp?

I've read certain places if you plugged an electric acoustic guitar into an electric guitar amp (like say...a Fender Blues Jr)...it wouldn't work and it could really mess up your amp. But I've read elsewhere that it's fine, it'll work fine. Because if I were to get an electric/acoustic I'd love to b...
