Re: Sickest Possible Guitar Riff Ever.
But you don't have to look too hard to find something Jimi truly pioneered - listen to Bold as Love. The second guitar solo is backwards, a technique known as "backmasking". Although others (like the Beatles) had run tape backwards before, as far as I know, this is the first instance of somebody re...

Re: Sickest Possible Guitar Riff Ever.
Oh and how about other innovative thing Hendrix has brought about? -Palm muting...listen to it in songs like Stone Free. -Use of the pinky with the thumb over the neck technique. Obviously many guitarists have used this before him, but not with the use of chords like Hendrix did. -Use of feedback -U...

Re: POLL - Gibson Les Paul Classic Colors
I went with Crimson. Not very often you see a Gibson that color, and I like it.

Re: Sickest Possible Guitar Riff Ever.
Whether you like Hendrix or not is a personal choice, I have no problems with that. Hendrix was an influence on me, but I was into many other guitarists like Jimmy Page, Steve Howe, Eric Clapton and many others. But you said Hendrix was not innovative. And I answered that you must not have been ali...

Sqeaking sound?
So, whenever I bend my B string I hear a squeak sound coming from around the nut area.
No other string does this, so I'm thinking the B string might just be slipping a little bit in the nut.
Or am I wrong here and this could be a potentially bad problem?(which I doubt)
Thanks.

You would HATE "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" by Hendrix...lol. It's all wah.   I love that riff, but reading this I gotta say, whenevr I sing/think of the riff in my head, I sing/think "wah wah wah wah wah wah-wah-wah waaaaaahhhhhhhhh....." Funny it's the opposite for me...i...

Re: Some bands you just can't get into.....
BTW, I just remembered - seeing Kevin's name - he once PM'd me and asked why I wasn't that keen on Jimi. One of the reasons I gave him - which I haven't put forward in this thread till now - is that I'm not at all keen on the sound of a wah-wah pedal, which JH used quite a lot. I dunno what it is a...

Downloading is already passé. That was for the bad old days of low bandwidth. It's now live streaming. One such source is Pandora . Pandora? Nah man...it's good on occasion and it's cool having a custom radio station on your computer...but you can't download the songs onto your ipod and what not.

Re: Some bands you just can't get into.....
If I ever become famous please DO NOT buy my album. Download it for free. I beg of you. Filing this away for later ... when quite probably downloading will be the old forgotten method of procuring music. Haha...yea...probably true. The way to do things seems to change every couple of years now...

Why would someone ever buy music with all the download outlets nowadays?UrbanCowgirl wrote:Yeah, that's a good point Kevin but most people aren't going to go buy an album of somebody whose singles they don't like.

Re: Some bands you just can't get into.....
Bands I can't get into Van Halen- I just don't get it. The Eagles- I like the occasional Eagles song, but how people can consider them as one of the greatest bands ever...I'll never understand. Metallica- Too heavy. Too many of their songs sound too similar. U2 - Boring...though I love Bono as a pe...

Older guitars=thinner necks?
I was reading something online today about some remakes of 60's strats...and is it true that old strats (not sure if it's the case for other guitars) had thinner necks than they do today?
If so how much of a difference is it?
Thanks.

Re: Sickest Possible Guitar Riff Ever.
I'm curious, what do you think of Hendrix's song Angel? That's another one I should have mentioned in the "Oh yes!" list. I was a big fan of Rod Stewart from about the time of Maggie May to about 75 or so - Rod did a cover of Angel. It was a double-A side over here, with "What Made Milwaukee Famous...
