Re: Trouble with B & F chords

CNEV, yup that is what I am doing. I am trying to keep the ring finger off the high e string though. I think it sounds better that way. Also I am a bit muddy with it all round too

Re: Christmas Solved! Santa Plays a Super Swede?

I am a little late in replying but I have to comment. I Hagstoms are hard to come by here in Nova Scotia the one store I could find them folded a while ago. I almost bought one of theses as my first electric guitar about 1.5 years ago(apparently I should have) I got a Hwy 1 strat instead. I don't th...

Re: Keep getting fret buzz

I have been having buzzing issues with my Godin LG the last couple of weeks also. I am no tech but I was tinkering with the truss rod and bridge height for almost two weeks when I finially gave up and took it in for a set up. I don't have a micro tilt on my guitar but it sounds like a good feature. ...

Re: Trouble with B & F chords

Oh those F n B Chords  I have been at the guitar for almost 3 years now & just turned 40 btw. I have been struggling with B recently as well although I did finially get F shape pretty good but it took months. Anyway I went to my lesson last night and my instructor gave me the following advice f...

Re: Wide Seagull type neck vs standard Width

Renting is a good Idea. My local store has a half price rental day every now and again I will watch and try one out. I may be angling my guitar too I don't know.

Wide Seagull type neck vs standard Width

I have a nice seagull 25th Annnv guitar and fairly small hands/short fingers. How significant is this? Lately I have been thinking I should unload the guitar and get something with a narrower neck. This guitar is the anniversary issue so was quite affordable for an all solid wood guitar. This means ...

Re: Recommendations for some beginner slide songs

I just finished going through "If Not For You" from the Easy Songs for Beginners section and it has a nice little intro to slide and instructions on how to play the song with a slide.

Re: When is the correct time to switch teachers

What you really need is a) someone who knows what you want to learn, b) can communicate it to you so you understand, and c) motivates you to do your best. I guess I should make sure both he and (more importantly)I know what my priorities are for learning guitar then decide if he is the best one to ...

Re: When is the correct time to switch teachers

Thanks for the replies guys it is all good food for thought. I don't want to make any rash decisions and regret them later. I am going to compile a list of songs I would like to learn when we finish our current project. Personally I would love if he told me what I should learn to be a well rounded g...

When is the correct time to switch teachers

I have been going to the same teacher for about 1.5years now. I have been playing for a little under two years. He is a classic rock guy and although I enjoy classic rock etc I don't generally have a desire to sit and play "ac/dc" in my living room. The family find it a little loud and annoying as w...

Re: Beginner's videos

Well I took the camera home, set it up got into position and started to play. My plan was to just leave it on and play for a while until I got a good minute or two. Well it turns out the battery was near dead & I didn't bring the charger home with me. :x . Sometimes I amaze myself with my thoughtles...

Re: Pirate Songs?

I can second Barretts Privateers it is a great pirate song. Just about every pub band here in Halifax plays this and I think every patron sings along. It is a bit if an anthem all summer long. Stan Rogers has written a lot of nautical type songs but Barretts is by far the most popular. http://www.yo...

Re: Beginners first kit - insanity inside, questions abound!

I have the VOX amPlug AC30 and I can agree with the other posters that it works well. Having said that I would recommend a small practice amp which has a headphones out instead(if your budget allows). I have a Vox DA-5 amp which is a nice little amp. I find headphones a l ittle frustrating at times,...

Re: Confessions Of A Strat Murderer

I believe KA-Chink represents the error part of trial and error. Well nothing ventured nothing gained.

Sorry for your loss, Strats are great BTW, I am sure you will come to love yours too.
