Re: Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue Age?

OK finally got this figured out if anyone cares. The salesman gave me the wrong number (letters). He gave me the SN but actually I had to find the "Quality Assurance Sticker", as you amazing people reminded me. The letters are hand written by themselves on this sticker. It said "DL" so that made it ...

Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue Age?

I just put a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue on layaway. However there seems to be some discrepancy about the age of the amp. The guy at GC looked up the SN and said it was made in 1990 (SN AC093505). But my understanding is they didn't start selling them until 1993-4. How can I find the real age? It s...

Re: Fender Super Champ XD

I found the answer and might have created a monster. I have a Fender Deluxe VM that I bought hoping is would be a louder version of the Super Champ. It doesn't sound anywhere near as good. Partly because it's solid state somewhere in the chain. Anyways... What I did was take the line out of the Supe...

Finding a Great Drummer?

Why is it so hard to find a great drummer. Sure I can find people who can play drums. But they don't understand how to play the song and play simple and in the pocket.

What up?

Dynamics!

How did you learn about "dyamics" in a song? You know... when you change your part based on the emotional level of each section of the song...

Moonrider that is an excellent post. Even though I've been playing in bands for over 40 years, you still taught me a few things there. Thanks! :D

What it takes to have a successful band...

OK I'm not talking about making a living as a musician (teaching, selling records, etc.)... just the band part. Let's discuss questions like... What type of music should you play? How many pieces and what instrumentation does it take? How good do you have to be at your instrument? How important is k...

From the club owner's perspective...

Not sure where this should go but I gave this thread a try...

If you ever want to be a working band it's good to understand the club owner's perspective. It took me years to learn what this club owner explains here...

Re: The difference between a guitar player and a musician.

Sorry if I was confusing. You're right dhodge, I should have just made my point. And sorry if it seemed as I was putting down "guitarists" but this is a guitar board so it seemed that was the context. But yes any instrumentalist can over-play and not help the song. I guess I was just trying to start...

Re: The difference between a guitar player and a musician.

My point is some guitarists are so busy wanking on their guitar they don't help make the song better with good parts and sometimes not playing at all. All good guitarists are musician's first.

The difference between a guitar player and a musician.

My theory is...

A guitar plays guitar.

A musician plays the song.

What do you think?

Re: Tone, Taste, or Technique... which is most important?

To put it in a context...

What is most important to move the audience, tone, taste, or technique.
