Re: Help Picking Pickups

I think....I'm...ging to try out the kinmans. Despite what I complained about earlier, the temptation is too much for me. Kinman talks a HUGE game on his site, but at harmonycentral, out of 25 reviews, his pickups scored a 9/5 or higher in the sound rating. I guess I can always return them if I'm no...

Re: Philosophical question

i feel the exact same way. you have no idea before i learned how to play guitar, and more specifically, how to solo, all those wonderful noises and solos made remained magical in my mind. i had no idea how hendrix made all that sound , or how gilmour made his strat scream and cry. it was all unknown...

Re: Help Picking Pickups

i already looked at the kinman set, and you can buy them individually. i trie dit out to see how much it would cost, and the price of two 69 pickups is...$229, which is ridiculous. the thing that kills me the most is shipping, if shipping were reasonable, i would definitely buy two of the pickups, b...

Re: Help Picking Pickups

thanks everyone so much for the replies! citizennoir, that sounds like a very good idea. the problem is, actually finding where i can buy individual fender '69 pickups. ebay's only giving me two choices, either the complete set of 3 or a fully loaded pickguard. would you know, by any chance, where i...

Re: Help Picking Pickups

vink since the fender '69 pickups have no hum canceling in 2 and 4, on average, about how much of a difference did shielding REALLY make in removing hum. i was considering getting the '69 pickups anyway and just shielding my MiM strat, but there's no point if the hum isn't even reduced by that much....

Re: Help Picking Pickups

the dali lama i don't know if it's just me, and i'm being illiterate, but I'm...unable..to understand Bill Lawrence's site, specifically the page with his pickups. I can't get a clear picture of what pickups he's selling, how much they are for each, what position they go in, or anything at all. i ca...

Help Picking Pickups

Hi everyone, it's been a while since i've posted i set aside a little bit of money for new pickups for my strat, and i've kinda (not really) narrowed down my choices. i know so far that I want hum-cancelling pickups, and I want to stay underneath or near $150 i know the impossible nature of this que...

i have a fender strat that I named 'candice.' the story behind that is I originally had the MiM stock pickups, and my friend who has a professional guitarist father and TONS of gear would always poke fun at me for my stock pickups. Then, lat christmas, my friend gave me a prewired pickguard with Ame...

Moving while playing doesn't instantly mean your feeling the emotion of the song, as you just showed me in your case. SRV could've very well felt a sneeze coming on, but if you watch him (and hendrix) playing live a lot, you'll see that the 'sneezy face' happens to come up every time they go into a ...

i certainly believe that people can invest emotion into music, when playing it. i also believe that people can feel certain emotions from listening to pieces of music. i don't think that the argument is whether, bb king for example, gets lost in emotion, and the notes he plays HAPPEN to fit within t...
