Open "G" is a good one. Open "c" is pretty good too.

Also, in a semi-drone tuning try DADDAD. Good for CS&N stuff.

One most little twist to the question.................For the Strat, maple or rosewood fretboard? I'm thinking maybe I'd like the maple. Everyone seems to have the rosewood. Personally on my Guild I have ebony.

Thank you all for your input. The word I just got, from a reliable source is, "The new SG is a dog." I believe the man. He's been around.

I'm leaning very far toward the Strat. I'm comfortable with the neck so I probably won't go wrong.
