Re: Poll - Would You Gig With This?

I'd play it, the flowers don't bother me at all. However, I'm not really a Tele fan, I'd prefer it if it were an SG ;) So I answered "Yes" because I think you were referring to the flowers. There is something about playing well on a non-serious looking instrument that actually appeals to me. I suppo...

Re: Does a song have to have a solo?

<...> By the way you said your a sax player? I would love to hear some mister fabulous type playing aka some blues brothers stuff. I e-mailed a person I did a "sax for hire" recording session for, and he generously allowed me to post one of the songs on the Internet. If you are still interested, go...

Re: Introducing myself (new to this board)

So you have musical talent, a beautiful wife and a life? I think I hate you already, Bob! Just joking - although I do have a LOT of hair, if you want to trade anything? Somehow I think the answer'll be NO...... Nice to meet you, see you round the forums! :D :D :D Vic Thanks for the warm welcome. .....

Re: Does a song have to have a solo?

<...snip...>That's that it doesn't have I knew there is something it was missing. but I'm still new to guitar and I'm not sure if I can create a good A release. That's the hard part for me, too. By the way you said your a sax player? I would love to hear some mister fabulous type playing aka some b...

Re: Does a song have to have a solo?

Writing songs is as much an art as it is a science. From what you described, perhaps you need a "B" section, "Bridge" or as the old guys put it, "A Release" -- which is really a good term because it moves the song temporarily into a new, related key and therefore relieves the tension built up by a l...

Re: What's a Humbucker pickup?

It's a matter of taste . Try both and see what you like. Humbuckers give you less noise. But really, who is going to hear a bit of 60Hz club when you are playing live. The ambient noise of the room is much higher than the single coil hum. If you are recording, a noise gate will take care of the hum...

Re: I need to learn to sing?

First, get a vocal coach. If you can't, at least learn how to breathe (with your diaphragm, not by expanding your chest. Relax your throat, don't tighten it up, it's a good way to get vocal nodules (and you don't want them). Just like you do on your guitar, practice, practice, practice. Practice sin...

Re: Introducing myself (new to this board)

<...SNIP...> This is the sax player in the last band I played with. I just have to know if y'all all wear the same hat? LOL! Hey, this guy has good taste in headgear!!! I have this theory. Playing the sax creates pressure in the head, which pops the hair on the top of the head out by the root...

Introducing myself (new to this board)

Hi, My name is Bob "Notes" Norton and I was referred here by a kind poster on the Epiphone forum. Nobody calls me "Notes" to my face, but it is convenient on the Internet simply because there are so many people named Bob in the world. I am a professional musician (Saxophone, Wind Synthesizer, Flute,...
