Re: Would a portable, screwless wall mount interest you?

My answer may not be what you want to hear, but I'm probably not alone. Then again, I'm pretty anal about removing risk from equations where I can. I don't intend to sound mean, but to hopefully give you some possibly valuable insight into my thoughts on this as you go through your decision making p...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

My Les Pauls all have 490R and 498T pickups. The SGJ has a 490R and 490T. Not as hot of a bridge pickup but I deal. Are yours the Burstbuckers Roy? Are yours by choice or by coincidence? I remember one time you were talking about them...or someone was. Mine were what they were because they made my ...

More like noodling hard and occasional learning song parts. nothing too serious.

Re: Making sure to at least noodle each day.

I can't walk by a guitar without picking it up to noodle. I am a habitual noodles. I do tend to have diarrhea of the fingers though. It was never a problem before I became a mini studio junkie. I was playing tons. I got a first draft of a song done this morning, which usually means no guitar for a ...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

I'm sure the electronics on the Gibson are top notch and you won't have issues. I think the boost circuit is more of an on board preamp rather than an active pickup setup. That's exactly what it is. I don't share the confidence just because of the string of probs I had with their lower priced divis...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

I'd like to say that I learned my lesson..... but I didn't. I bought the one I did. It is fun to give it that extra boost now and then. Not a traditional tone, but still fun. I don't have any other active guitar. Perhaps I will someday. Like I said earlier, I'll yank it out and replace the POTS if i...

Making sure to at least noodle each day.

Some days I cannot do any music activities. Other days I find myself doing a lot of DAW-centric activities. As a result, I got in to a really bad habit of not playing guitar for sometimes 3-5 days in a row. Getting back in to form takes at least three days for me. Day-1 is some awful, out of time, s...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

I've had a few guitars with P-90s in it. I've considered getting an Epi LP a time or two and putting some in there. I love the Guitar-Fetish after-market P90s that I've got in a different guitar. For a bit warmer tone, the Riviera P93 Black Royale with the proper construction brings it in droves. Re...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

Roy! You got a real Gibson Les Paul? Congrats! I have 4 Gibbys, all lower end. 22 year old Les Paul Studio (one of the better years for them I have read) black with ebony board and gold hardware. Les Paul Special, Les Paul Junior Special and an SGJ. Yeah, I bit the bullet and got one. I'm not sure ...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

I remember your issues with that Ultra Roy, I did not know you had so much more issues. Ive been very happy with mine, but its also just a Standard, without all the toys. Only issues I had is with the buzzing bridge after about a year or so of playing, and a issue with it getting caught in a damp b...

Re: Decent copies of Gibson Les Paul

Slated by whom? Epiphone guitars have a good reputation and lots and lots of people love them. In my experience, they've became a disaster. I was one of Epi's biggest fans on this site, and was so for a very long time. My 2005 LP custom is still great. Multiple subsequent issues with a 339 Ultra II...

Re: Recording / Playing 3 guitars on a computer

One thing's for sure, is that it can be done. how to get there, though, is the trick. To do that, we'd need to know what you have on a more specific level. What pedal do you use? What do you use the computer for? Where is the actual guitar processing happening? (And is it expandable?) You are connec...

Re: Recording with Guitar Rig

However, the DAW does not actually record the effected signal. So the DAW records a dry guitar signal and applies Guitar Rig's patch on every subsequent playback until the track is rendered or printed? (term varies...) That sounds like one would also be able to get the benefit of re-amping, such as...

Re: Year 12 - Week 14 - Dances with Ghosts - Take-2

I listen to a variety of music. I do enjoy a good longer song. I've got no problem listening to Pink Floyd's "Echoes" or any number of Allman Brothers band tunes. Even my favorites - The 'Stones - their longer songs have been my long-time favorites. YCAGWYW, 'Sympathy and Midnight rambler being bigg...

Re: Y12W17 Opposites Attract

Same thing with the final chorus. Instead of "He's not pregnant, but she is," I think it would be better to say "the baby is his." The way it's said aids the opposites theme, but I would otherwise agree. .... "he's an extrovert......." In my profession, software engineer, an introvert looks at his ...
