Amplifier setups and ABY and Y guitar cables

Post by colonelburnel » January 10th, 2014, 7:26 am

Hey folks,

hoping to find some answers to some questions I have. Here is the scenario. I would like to be able to set up my guitar through two amps, both of the amps are tube combo's (Fender Blues Deluxe and Rivera Chubster 55). The guitar will be plugged into a pedalboard ending with and ABY box to connect to the two amps. I'm trying to figure out how I could run one amp clean (at times) while one is engaged through the applied effects. Could I add two y cables at the guitar and one at one of the amps so if I'm say selected on the A channel with my effects pedal and the B channel is switched off through the ABY box. I was wondering if the signal through the y cables would still carry my signal to the amp for a clean sound on my other amp, or will I blow things up or loose signal strenght, etc. Hopefully I haven't confused you too much. Thanks
