Guitar Modification

Postby sunflowermanjeff » Tue Nov 03, 2009 5:43 pm

Hi everybody, anyone out there who can please tell me how to remove the painted on words on the headstock of my acoustic guitar. It says Franciscan for what brand it is and I'd like to remove it. Also, can anyone please tell me how to remove a pickguard and put a new one on an acoustic guitar. thanks, jeff

The lettering on the headstock is probably under a layer of varnish (or whatever clear finish is on your guitar).
How experienced are you at removing varnish, and re-varnishing wood?

The pickguard on most acoustics that I'm familiar with is glued on with a fairly strong glue, or perhaps a double-sided tape on some brands.
The trick to removing the pickguard is to not damage the wood with any tools.
Again, how experienced are you at woodworking projects?
