A new singing attempt , feedback please

Think you can't sing? Think again. Can you hum or sing the pitches as you tune your guitar? Can you sing along with your car radio? You can? Great! Now we know you can sing. It's good to get that out of the way. Come on in and wail away.

A new singing attempt , feedback please

Post by Kalle_in_Sweden » December 12th, 2011, 10:34 am

Hi everybody
This is my latest of six recordings where I am singing.
It´s slow version of "Georgia on my mind" with me also playing the rythm on an acoustic guitar.
I did record the guitar track before recording the song, to make the singing a bit easier.

I know that I am not a good singer by all means, but I want to be better and need some inspiration and advice.
Do I have any future as an amateur "singer" ?
/Kalle
PS The other singing recordings can be found on my Soundclick site, see link below
Tanglewood TW28STE (Shadow P7 EQ) acoustic
Yamaha RGX 320FZ electric guitar/Egnater Tweaker 15 amp.
Yamaha RBX 270 bass/Laney DB 150 amp.

you have a good future. your voice sounds nice. it has a pleasant timbre. (if that is the correct term).
one thing that would improve things....voice strength. although you have excellent pitch, I hear a slight wavering when you try to hold the note.
your phrasing is good. so is the guitar.
you are better than average. :note2:

Thanks dogbite for your response.
As I am very unsure about my singing ability I need understand if it´s OK (for a beginner) or if it´s terrible.
About voice strength, I can also hear the wavering ( more than slight for me).
I am so afraid to go out of pitch when increasing the volume that I hold back.

don't hold back. open up the throat by relaxing the neck muscles. breathe in deep and exhale from the navel( lower diaphragm). your voice will have more power without belting it out like a drunk on new years eve.
your pitch is a fine.

When I listened to your voice I was thinking you should cover some Johnny Cash songs. I think you were solid, man. I think you're better than you seem to think you are. I wish I had your voice.
