those vintage les paul knobs

Post by blackzerogsh » November 6th, 2007, 6:21 pm

just for fun, i'm planning on getting my les paul as close to jimmy page's as i can (new humbuckers...jimmy page wiring mod...etc).

i've been looking at some pictures and i noticed that on his les paul, and other vintage gibsons, on the volume/tone knobs, it looks like there is some sort of metal arrow shape thingie attached to the pot, so that you can indicate what number level you are on.

i was wondering, is this an add on that you screw on underneath the actual knob, or is this a certain type of knob that has those metal arrow things built in?

where could i buy some?

you can see them on the 1 o'clock position of each knob

I've heard these referred to as "Blood Testers".

thanks

i just bought the pickup selector plate. the one that says "rhythm" and treble" and i was wondering...how do i actually get it on? do i just pull the old one off and slid the new one in its palce? or do i need to unscrew the pickup selector or something?

It goes underneath the nut that holds the selector in place. The nut holds the name plate and the switch on the guitar.
