DLH Gig Report

I took a few small vids and some lengthy ones as well. They take some time to load so please be patient if you are planning on watching any of them.

Based on that information there were 14,000 people there last night. We got them warmed up, I would like to believe.

The temperature at starting time was 89 degrees F. We arrived about 2 PM (to mid 90's temps) but didn't actually get to start setting up until around 3:30. We were done with our sound check by about 5 PM. Our scheduled start time was 6:30 but that got pushed back until 7:10. That was a good thing because at 6:30 no one was in the stands yet. By about quarter of 7 it was about half filled so they were piling in faster than you could count. By 7 we were smiling.

So here are some of the vids I took. They are time lined according to the events as they unfolded.

During the course of the afternoon I got fairly well acquainted with the drummer, keyboardist and guitarist of the Chris Cagle show. They all hail from Nashville but none knew our resident rocker. I was so disappointed. However, I had the biggest compliment that I can recall.

After we finished packing up the gear, the drummer from Chris Cagle came over to our band trailer, pulled me off to the side, told me how great we sounded, how impressed he was with my playing....and are you ready for the grand finale? He told me I should head to Nashville to get noticed. He told me I could be in the audition circuit for upcoming artists' shows requirements like he was. He told me he was notified two days before this band took off on its tour that he'd gotten picked from the auditions of only 9 other drummers who tried out. He's also 14 years younger than me. So I took it as a compliment but, doubt I'll head south.

So anyway, I hope you like the vids.

Very cool video report Bish! Wow, big crowd! You guys sounded great, and rock solid drumming!
That's an awesome compliment you got too. Now you know you always have a music career to fall back on!
The new drums looked & sounded great! One compliant, when doing the "pre-show stage tour", spend alittle more time on the guitarist's gear! I didn't even notice what effects he was running through! Looked like the amp was a Fender Blues Deluxe maybe?
Surprisingly good sound from your camcorder. I could hear the drums, guitar & vox real good, and it even picked up the bass & keyboards.
You did a great job! I'm proud of you Bro!

I'll remember to get the guitarists gear from now on. What was I thinking?

I did want to say one thing, also. (hard to believe, huh?) Those drums were my existing kit. I chickened out taking the new kit cuz I was under the impression we were going to have "stage help" escorting our gear off the stage as fast as possible. The potential for damaged geared loomed in my face and I figured I'd better take the kit that's already been on the road in case of any new damage. As it turned out we loaded and moved our own gear anyway.

I also hope anyone trying to download and play the vids, have been successful. They are all fairly large files and I know they take some time to load.

For anyone who's invested the time to watch them....THANK YOU!!!!!

Thanks for trying, Rachel. At the present time I have too much going on to even attempt to leave the area for any length of time. Plus, I'm happy doing what I am now.

Kent_eh, thanks, bud! Appreciate taking the time to look them over. I have no idea about most of the gear. I was too busy awing everything to note details. I DO know that was one heck of a lot of gear and must have been 8-10 cabinets on each side, and those were just the ones hanging.

We did get treated pretty well. We got fed and had all the non alchy beverages we could consume. Plus, I got a great tan being out in the 95 degree day. At least I think so after all the red goes away.

Nashville is a great place to live, of course I've never lived anywhere else. One tip if you come here: if someone is wearing a cowboy hat, they are a tourist.

I don't think you want to come down right now, it's freakin' hot. It's been right at 100 for a week (it's 99 right now, 6:30pm). Tomorrow is supposed to be 102.
