The Glory Years includes Pink Floyd's triumvirate of best selling albums: The Dark Side of
the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The
Wall. On these albums Roger was unmistakably
the force writing songs and dictating
the artistic direction. Songs from these albums, as well as Animals, include many fan favorites.
Essentially an all electric album, many songs from Dark Side of the
Moon can be played on an acoustic guitar and still sound very cool.
Us & Them
Us & Them is Dark Side of the Moon's best track for trying an all acoustic arrangement.

Brain Damage
Brain Damage is another song that can be made to sound good on an acoustic guitar. It uses open chords and arpeggios.

Eclipse
Following up Brain Damage with Eclipse keeps the flow of the original album. On this song there are a few more variations to learn than on Brain Damage.

The album Wish You Were Here features to songs with a twelve string guitar.
Welcome to the Machine
If you have two guitarists working together on Welcome to the Machine, you
can easily put together an excellent sounding version. The first
guitar, a twelve string, plays all the chords
using upstrokes. Let the notes ring out as long as possible.
When the verse starts, begin strumming dramatically. The chords are E Minor, C,
and A Minor. The second guitar
plays a simple solo on one string, that nicely fills in all the spaces.

Wish You Were Here
True
to David's style, Wish You Were Here is a simple, straightforward acoustic song. The intro is played with a twelve string guitar playing chords with hammer-ons and pull-offs. The intro solo is a basic blues solo, playing around the chords.
For beginners, Guitar Noise has three excellent, in-depth lessons on this song: Wish You Were Here, The Intro Solo and
Applied Science. These lessons will take you through the various parts of the song step by step.

Pink Floyd's next album, Animals, opens and closes with a short simple acoustic track.
Pigs on the Wing
Pigs on the Wing is a solo acoustic piece made up of open position chords. Both parts are nearly identical, with different lyrics.

Dogs
Dogs uses an unusual tuning that we haven't encountered yet. All strings are tuned down one whole
step, or two half tones. The tuning David uses on the album is DGCFAD. The strumming pattern should take a while to get right.

Many of the tings we have seen so far are used again on The Wall. We will see the use of unusual tunings, strumming open chords and some very nice finger style pieces.
Mother
Mother's slow strumming of open chords makes it a good beginner piece, and a campfire favorite. With a twelve and six guitar guitar, you can very reasonably emulate the original version.

Hey You
David reportedly only played Hey You one way. Here we are going to examine three different ways of playing this Pink Floyd classic.
David's original version features a unique high-strung tuning.
The low E string is replaced by a high E string and the A, D and
G strings are replaced by thinner strings tuned one octave higher
than usual. This is somewhat like the thinner strings on a twelve string guitar. The sixth
string is also two octaves higher. Playing with this tuning, you simply arpeggiate the strings with no finger placements from low
to high and back again. For the chord change barre all strings at the second fret.
A simpler way of playing without retuning requires you to put a capo on the third fret.
A third version lets you play without any additional equipment or alternate tuning. Relying on barre chords you can achieve nearly the same sound as the capo version. From an aesthetic point of view, the capo
version sounds slightly better. The downside for a solo guitarist is removing the capo for the song's bridge while still playing. Harder than that is putting it back on for the final verse.

Comfortably Numb
A song like Comfortably Numb actually sounds recognizable by simply strumming the chords. Two guitarists playing together should have one play the keyboard part while the other strums the open chords.

The Final Cut, features a few acoustic songs that would become a mainstay of his style in his early solo work.
