The Later Years

The two Pink Floyd albums following Roger's departure gave us four excellent songs for acoustic.

ON THE TURNING AWAY
On the Turning Away is a song that begins slowly with keyboards. An acoustic strumming the chords is added for the second verse. The song picks up speed and power in time for David's grand guitar solo. For a softer, more acoustic sounding version, listen to the live album Delicate Sound of Thunder.

POLES APART
This first acoustic song on The Division Bell uses finger picking and the altered tuning DADGAD.

LOST FOR WORDS
Whereas Poles Apart and On The Turning Away are both acoustic songs with electric solos, Lost For Words stays true to the acoustic. This song is very similar to Wish You Were Here in many regards. It uses similar chords and has a familiar sounding intro solo. The outro solo is also done on an acoustic.

HIGH HOPES
High Hopes is an epic song. The main piano parts can be played on acoustic guitar. There is also a classical guitar that plays during the chorus. Unfortunately, a lap steel guitar is needed to replicate the outro solo.
