The Solo Years


For much of his post Pink Floyd work, Roger employed some of Britain's finest musicians, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Andy Fairweather Low. David, in addition to his own solo albums has collaborated with Jools Holland and Pete Townshend.

The second song David solo second solo album, About Face, is about the death of John Lennon.  Its simple but effective acoustic intro uses open chords and a capo on the third fret.

CRUISE
David's Cruise is another relatively simple sounds track using a lot of familiar open chords.

This mainly piano song, with electric solo courtesy of Eric Clapton, can be arranged for acoustic guitar using mostly open position chords. To make things sound interesting try embellishing slightly on the C, Am, and G chords. For example:   hammer-on the D string for the C & Am, and on the A for the G chord.

ME OR HIM?
The only acoustic track on Roger's second solo album, Radio K.A.O.S, is Me or Him.. The album version is played with a steel dobro guitar, with the haunting melody being played by Roger on a unique sounding wind instrument called a shakuhachi.
