Guitar Noise Podcast #15 – Mixing Strumming and Crosspicking

By: David Hodge , August 18, 2008

Hello to all!

Guitar Noise Podcast #15 takes up right on the heels of #14 – we’ll still be using “Handsome Molly” as an exercise to incorporate the various lessons we’ve picked up in our podcasts thus far. The emphasis here will be on combining measures (or half measures) of strumming with measures (or half measures) of crosspicking. Plus, we’ll add a couple of riffs to make the change from our G to D chord a little more interesting.

As always, I’ll be walking you step by step through the lesson. And, as always, please let us know what you think.

Peace

    Hi David
I want to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your podcasts. I’ve been with you since the first one and they just get better and better! I especially like the ones with the crosspicking, strumming and the fills you’ve shown us. Also it really helps me to understand better and follow you when you sing. Thank you so much, I really feel like I’m learning some important stuff! I’ve tried some of your crosspicking on some of my own songs and its working great and it is so much fun! My strumming was dull and boring and now it sounds like “real” music.
    Have a great day!
    Pat

    Hi Pat!

Since the first one, huh? Some might say you’re a glutton for punishment! Seriously, though, I’m thrilled that the Guitar Noise Podcasts are being so helpful to you. After all, that’s why we’ve posted them!

I’m not sure how much my singing can help anyone, but I’ll try to work more singing into the upcoming lessons, especially since we’ll be taking this “using what we’ve learned” for a few more podcasts at least.

Thank you again for your kind words and I hope I have the honor of hearing your music one day.

    Peace
